Refolk Recruiting
Send me your roles.
Meet the shortlist in 48 hours.
Recruiting for startups that hire for talent density. I search the whole market for each role, screen every profile against it, and send you the 5 people worth a conversation. 8% of first-year base, only when you hire.
Your website is enough. I bring in your open roles; you tick the ones to fill.
- 8% on hire, nothing up front
- No retainer
- No exclusivity
- 48 hours to the first shortlist
How it works
About two minutes of your time, then a shortlist.
- 1
Name your company
Sign in with your work email and confirm the website. I read your careers page and list every open role.
- 2
Tick the roles to fill
Pick from the list, or paste a link or a title for a role that is not public. Add anything the posting leaves out.
- 3
Meet the shortlist in 48 hours
5 screened people per role, by email, each with the reasons they fit. Say who you want to meet and I make the intro.
The bar
Fewer people, each one worth the call.
Built for venture-backed startups hiring engineers, product people and operators, and sourced from people who have done the work at companies like yours: strong startups, top labs, and schools that select hard.
Where they come from
Every role is a fresh search of the whole market, not a database of people who happened to apply somewhere.
- Engineers, researchers and operators from strong startups and top labs.
- Read across the open web, public LinkedIn and Crunchbase records, GitHub and published papers.
- Matched on the work the role needs done, not on keywords in a title.
How they are screened
A long list is easy to produce and expensive to read. I do the reading.
- Checked against your must-haves: level, location, the kind of company they have built at.
- Every profile read by a person before it reaches you.
- A short written reason next to every name, so you can disagree with it in a sentence.
Pricing
A small fee, and only on a hire.
8% of first-year base salary, and only when you hire. No retainer, no exclusivity, nothing up front.
- No retainer
- No exclusivity
- No deposit
- No contract to start
- A shortlist of 5 screened people for each role within 48 hours, every one of them read by a person before it reaches you.
- Another shortlist when the first one misses, with your feedback built in
- Intros to the people you pick, made when they want the conversation too
- Nothing owed if you hire somebody I did not introduce
Against the usual ways to hire
- Contingency recruiting agency
- 20 to 25%
- Typical agency fees run 20 to 25 percent of first-year salary. On a $180,000 hire that is $36,000 to $45,000.
- An in-house recruiter
- A full salary
- Months to hire one, and a fixed cost whether you are hiring two people this quarter or twenty.
- Refolk Recruiting
- 8%
- On the same $180,000 hire, $14,400. Nothing until an offer is accepted.
The agency figure is a typical range, not a quote from any one firm.
Rather run it yourself?
Post a role to the talent pool for a flat price, or search the market yourself in plain English.
Questions
Before you send a role.
What does it cost?
8% of first-year base salary, and only when you hire. No retainer, no exclusivity, nothing up front. If nobody on a shortlist is right, you owe nothing.
How is that so far below an agency?
An agency fee pays for hours of sourcing and outreach. Most of that work is a search I run in minutes across the open web, public LinkedIn and Crunchbase records, GitHub and published research. What is left is the part that needs judgement: reading every profile against your role before it reaches you. 8% pays for that.
What arrives in 48 hours?
For each role, 5 people by email: who they are, where they have worked, and in a few lines why they fit this role in particular. Nobody is on it because a keyword matched.
Who do you recruit for?
Venture-backed startups, from seed to growth, hiring engineers, product people, designers and operators. If your roles are a long way from that, I will tell you rather than send a weak list.
Do I have to rewrite my job descriptions?
No. Give me your website and I bring in the roles already on your careers page. Tick the ones you want filled. A role that is not public yet can go in as a link or a title.
Is it exclusive?
No. Keep your own pipeline and any agency you already use. If you hire somebody I introduced, the fee applies; if you hire somebody else, it does not.
Who reaches out to the candidates?
I do, once you say a profile is worth a conversation, and the intro comes to you only when they want it too. You can also take a name and reach out yourself; the fee is the same either way.
When is the fee invoiced?
When an offer is accepted, against the first-year base salary in the offer. There is no deposit and nothing to sign before the first shortlist.
Your next hire, on a shortlist by the day after tomorrow.
Send the roles in two minutes. 5 screened people for each within 48 hours, and 8% only when you hire.
