About this role

Upwind is a next-generation Cloud Security Platform that leverages runtime context to identify and prioritize critical risks, providing precise insights for efficient cloud security management. Unlike traditional tools, Upwind uses runtime data proactively for risk prioritization and posture insights, ensuring teams focus on what truly matters. With industry-leading efficiency and eBPF-powered sensors, Upwind delivers comprehensive capabilities, including agentless cloud posture discovery, real-time threat protection, and integrated API security. From misconfigurations to malware defense, Upwind ensures end-to-end, cost-effective cloud infrastructure protection. At Upwind, you’ll have the opportunity to think creatively, explore new ideas, and use your skills to make a meaningful impact on our growth.

We’re looking for a technical and curious Research Analyst to join our research group in an entry-level role. This is a great opportunity for someone at the start of their career who wants to break into the security worl and grow into a hands-on technical research role. You’ll explore the evolving landscape of cloud security and advanced technologies, driving actionable insights that strengthen our CNAPP offerings. You’ll work closely with a diverse team to investigate emerging threats, evaluate detection capabilities, and help shape innovative solutions for cloud environments. Join us in shaping the future of cloud security, where your research not only influences our technology roadmap but also resonates with our commitment to exceeding customer expectations, streamlining processes, and solving tough challenges creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product and GTM teams to integrate insightful research findings into our platform and drive feature innovation.
  • Conduct thorough studies of cloud-native environments, focusing on data-driven techniques to identify vulnerabilities, assess threat landscapes, and refine detection methods.
  • Investigate and propose novel approaches - whether in defense evasion, anomaly detection, or cloud security - to strengthen our agents, engines, and overall security posture.
  • Translate complex security challenges into clear, practical solutions that deliver immediate and measurable value to customers.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in the industry (Developers, Devops, SOC, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud environments or in the security field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with coding (C, Python, etc.), cloud infrastructure, runtime security, and AI/ML is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to deep-dive into complex topics.
  • Ability to deliver research insights that drive tangible improvements for end-users.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Independent and organized, with a structured approach to work and the ability to streamline processes using AI tools.
