About this role

Narrative at Riot works directly with product teams and creative direction to create excellent content for our players. We are responsible for the quality of our written words, regardless of the format in which they are delivered, and for pushing the boundaries of what is possible with our tech and tools. We lean on years of experience to help build some of the most globally iconic characters and worlds in gaming.

As a Narrative Manager on LoL PC, you will report to the Narrative Director, partnering to build and support a world-class team of storytellers. You will work alongside - and help to guide and develop - Narrative Writers and Editors working on League of Legends. You will assist Leads in delivering seasonal narrative content, as well as pitch and write for champions, skinline thematics, minigames, and modes that will surprise and delight players across the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage team growth and contribute to performance reviews, career development, and hiring processes, holding a high craft bar for Narrative content
  • Participate in Narrative craft reviews and provide feedback to other members of the team on a regular basis
  • Execute high-quality narrative content, across a variety of tones and themes, spanning in-game VO and any written materials, ensuring alignment with vision, quality, and timelines
  • Collaborate with leadership to address challenges and drive initiatives that improve team health, efficiency and output
  • Contribute to the development of creative processes for writing and editing at Riot, providing SME feedback in areas of expertise
  • Provide input on how Narrative connects to the long-term creative direction
  • Model and uphold good working relationships with stakeholders and product teams
  • Help to drive improvements to Riot Games' global multi-language processes (including sensitivity consideration)

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of professional industry experience
  • 4+ years experience in game writing, and at least one other narrative medium (e.g. prose, VO, comics, interactive stories, etc)
  • 1+ years of management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience delivering quality work in partnership with other creative disciplines
  • Experience with creating content for translation into other languages

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the League of Legends intellectual property, and its current range of narrative expressions
  • Experience with the creation of story and game content within existing IPs, for game product releases or in direct support of them
  • Experience delivering timely, clear, and actionable Narrative craft feedback, in both Writing and Editing
  • Experience in formal mentoring
  • Experience working on a live game

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.
