Lucid's 5 Named VPs Are a 2,835-Profile Poach List. You Have 60 Days.

Five named VP departures plus two 2026 cuts turned Lucid Motors' Newark HQ into a 30 to 60 day sourcing window. Here is the map.

Lucid's 5 Named VPs Are a 2,835-Profile Poach List. You Have 60 Days.

Lucid Motors just handed sourcers a rare gift: five publicly named VP and SVP departures, on top of two workforce cuts inside four months, all concentrated in one Bay Area headquarters. Every one of those named executives has a direct-report tree that is still tagged to their old boss on public profiles, and the clock on those tags is short.

The five names and why each one is a sourcing list

Every executive departure at Lucid is a ready-made org chart of orphaned reports, and five VPs walking means five parallel poach lists across engineering, software, IT, strategy, and digital. The names, the functions they ran, and the layers they left behind:

  • Eric Bach, former Chief Engineer and SVP Product. Joined April 2015 from a Tesla director-of-engineering seat. Ousted by then-interim CEO Marc Winterhoff and filed a wrongful-termination suit Lucid publicly called "absurd." His tree: powertrain and vehicle engineering in Newark.
  • Emad Dlala, former VP Engineering and Software, later SVP Powertrains and Product. His two named lieutenants, Vivek Attaluri (VP vehicle engineering) and Marc Solsona Palomar (VP software), now report directly to CEO Silvio Napoli. That is a stopgap, not a plan.
  • Sanjay Chandra, former VP IT, five-plus years in seat. His org spanned infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems across design, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service. In practical terms: the entire enterprise-IT stack.
  • Claudia Gast, former Strategy Chief, out February 2026. Her reports have had the longest to be reshuffled, which is exactly why the ones still listed as Lucid are the interesting ones.
  • Michael Bell, former SVP Digital, out May 2024. Same logic as Gast. Anyone still in the digital org after their SVP left is either about to be promoted or about to leave.

Add COO Marc Winterhoff (June 2026), plus heads of European operations and investor relations, and you get sixteen C-level, SVP, or VP departures between October 2023 and early July 2026. Design chief Derek Jenkins, recently retitled Chief Creative Officer, is the last remaining member of the founding leadership team.

The Newark math nobody is running

Newark, California is the strategic sourcing target, not Casa Grande, even though Arizona took the bigger headcount hit. The WARN notices tell you where the layoffs happened. The org charts tell you where the leverage is.

The August 21, 2026 WARN filings named 705 workers cut at Casa Grande and 136 employees cut at Newark. Casa Grande is where the second production shift is being eliminated; Newark is where the software, digital, IT, and strategy functions the five named VPs ran actually sit. Recruiters chasing headcount go to Arizona. Recruiters chasing leverage on Lucid Motors layoffs 2026 go to Newark.

2,835
U.S. profiles linked to Lucid Motors in Refolk's index
The layoffs cut roughly 2,500 roles, so the still-employed pool is 3 to 4x the size of the pool that got cut.

That 2,835 number is the one to internalize. Combined with roughly 2,500 total roles eliminated across the February and June rounds, the still-employed-but-managerially-orphaned pool sits at roughly 3 to 4x the size of the pool that got laid off. Everyone else is sourcing the WARN names. The bigger opportunity is the survivors reporting to a boss who is no longer there.

Where the 2,835 actually sit

The share numbers come from Refolk's index. The WARN numbers are public filings. Together they tell you that a Newark-first search across engineering and software gets you into a Bay Area cluster that is roughly 44% of Lucid's entire U.S. professional footprint, gated by five named ex-bosses.

Why the 30 to 60 day window is real

Orphaned reports leave within a quarter of their VP being replaced by a stopgap, and Lucid just created five of those stopgaps at once. The mechanism is boring and reliable: when Attaluri and Solsona Palomar were re-slotted directly under CEO Napoli after Dlala left, both inherited spans of control that make routine one-on-ones impossible. Skip-levels stop happening. Promotion conversations stall. Then a recruiter calls.

Two precedents already set the landing pattern:

  1. Jean-Philippe Gauthier, Lucid's VP of Digital, left for Amazon's Zoox in July 2026 after nearly 13 years. Bay Area AV. Same commute.
  2. Peter Hawkins, VP of engineering through December 2025, is now director of engineering at Google DeepMind as of February 2026. Hyperscaler AI, not another OEM.

Neither of those people took a job at Ford or GM. That matters for how you write the outreach. EV engineer sourcing right now is not an OEM-to-OEM game; it is an OEM-to-AV or OEM-to-hyperscaler game, plus the odd EV startup like Slate that has been systematically hiring senior Lucid staff ahead of its own truck launch. Former Lucid CFO Sherry House is now CFO at Ford, which is the exception that proves the rule: finance moves OEM to OEM, engineers do not.

Recruiters chasing headcount go to Casa Grande. Recruiters chasing leverage go to Newark.

How to actually build the list

Start from the five names, walk one hop down the org chart, filter to Newark, and sort by tenure. That is the whole play, and it is exactly the gap Refolk closes: you describe the tree you want in plain English instead of assembling five Boolean strings that each miss the profiles where the title got renamed mid-tenure.

The plain-English query that works:

Two things about that query. First, "previously reported to" is not a LinkedIn field, which is why the standard sourcing tools cannot answer it directly; it has to be inferred from overlapping tenures, title adjacency, and post interactions. Second, "still-employed" matters because the interesting names are not the ones who already updated to "Open to Work." They are the ones who have not, yet.

The signals worth filtering on

  • Title edited in the last 90 days. The re-slot after a VP leaves usually shows up as a lateral title change before it shows up as a departure.
  • Endorsement patterns clustered around one of the five VP names. Even after a boss leaves, the endorsement graph does not update. It is a fingerprint.
  • Casa Grande to Newark relocations pre-2024. These are people who moved for the mission; the Napoli hire from Schindler (an escalator and elevator maker) reads to them as a signal, whether or not it is one.
  • Public code activity on Lucid-related repos that stopped in Q2 2026. For the software layer, this is the closest thing to a real flight-risk indicator.

The cross-source stitching is where this earns its keep. A profile will tell you someone is still at Lucid; their shipping cadence will tell you they stopped in June. Pulling both is how you rank the 2,835 by "actually orphaned right now" instead of "was at Lucid at some point."

Why this is not a one-off

Lucid has done this before, and the survivors know it, which shortens every outreach cycle. The March 2023 restructuring cut 18%, roughly 1,300 employees. The February 2026 round cut 12%. The June 2026 round cut another 18%, roughly 1,500 people, alongside eliminating the second production shift at Casa Grande. Anyone still in seat has now lived through three cuts.

Survivor flight risk compounds. It does not stack linearly. The third round is where people who told themselves "I will stick it out" after round two update their resume the same week the announcement lands. The financial context does not help the retention story either: $2.7B loss on $1.35B revenue in 2025, with the June restructuring rated for annualized savings of only $158M.

$158M
annualized savings from the June 2026 restructuring
Against a $2.7B loss on $1.35B revenue in 2025, that is a rounding error, and the workforce reads it that way.

Add Napoli's non-automotive background (Schindler Group, escalators and elevators) and you get a talent base that has a stated cultural reason to take a recruiter call. The pitch writes itself: mission-driven engineers who joined for Rawlinson's technical vision are being asked to build cars for a CEO from an elevator company. Lead with mission fit, not comp.

The competitive employers already winning

If you want to know where Lucid people go, look at where Lucid people already went. Four confirmed landing spots, each with a different reason:

  • Zoox (Amazon AV). Same Bay Area commute, applied AV work, deep pockets. Gauthier precedent.
  • Google DeepMind. Hyperscaler AI and robotics, not automotive. Hawkins precedent.
  • Slate (EV truck startup). Systematically hiring senior Lucid staff ahead of launch.
  • Ford. Where Lucid's former CFO landed. Finance and go-to-market, not engineering.

Add Nuro (autonomous Gravity SUV pilot in San Francisco) and Lucid's own robotaxi deal with Uber as evidence that AV skills stay marketable, and you have the four-column outbound targeting list to poach Lucid engineers against.

FAQ

How many people did Lucid actually lay off in 2026?

The February round cut approximately 12% of the workforce, and the June round cut approximately 18%, roughly 1,500 employees, plus the elimination of the second production shift at Casa Grande. Public WARN filings named 705 workers at Casa Grande and 136 at Newark, effective August 21, 2026. Against a year-end-2025 workforce of around 9,000, the combined effect points to roughly 2,500 total roles eliminated across both rounds.

Which named executives left Lucid, and when?

Five VP-level and SVP-level departures anchor the recent news cycle: Eric Bach (Chief Engineer, ousted by then-interim CEO Marc Winterhoff), Emad Dlala (VP Engineering and Software, June 2026), Sanjay Chandra (VP IT), Claudia Gast (Strategy Chief, February 2026), and Michael Bell (SVP Digital, May 2024). COO Marc Winterhoff also departed in June, and founder-CEO Peter Rawlinson exited earlier. Silvio Napoli, previously of Schindler Group, was named CEO in April 2026.

Why is Newark a better sourcing target than Casa Grande?

Because Newark holds the software, IT, digital, and strategy functions the five departed VPs ran, while Casa Grande is a manufacturing site. The Casa Grande WARN cut 705 workers; the Newark WARN cut 136. But roughly 16% of all U.S. Lucid-linked profiles in Refolk's index sit in Newark, and the Bay Area cluster overall accounts for about 44%. That is where the engineering leverage is concentrated, and that is where the orphaned direct-report layers of the five named VPs still work today.

Where are ex-Lucid engineers landing?

Publicly confirmed landing spots include Amazon's Zoox (Jean-Philippe Gauthier, VP Digital, July 2026), Google DeepMind (Peter Hawkins, VP Engineering, February 2026), Ford (Sherry House, former CFO), and EV truck startup Slate, which has been systematically hiring senior Lucid staff. The pattern is Bay Area AV and hyperscaler AI, not other traditional OEMs, which should shape both your target list and your outreach messaging.
