About Upstart

At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.

As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 3,000 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.

We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City, you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.

If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.

The Team:

Upstart's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team helps identify, assess, and manage risks across the organization. Within ERM, the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program oversees supplier risks throughout the relationship lifecycle, helping ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and internal policies. As Upstart's risk management requirements evolve, the team is focused on scaling its processes, strengthening oversight, and leveraging technology to operate efficiently.

As a TPRM Senior Associate at Upstart, you will play a key role in assessing and managing third-party supplier risks while supporting the continued development of our TPRM program. You'll execute risk assessments using established frameworks, collaborate with stakeholders to address control gaps, and contribute to improvements in processes and tooling, including AI-enabled solutions.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Execute third-party risk assessments throughout the supplier lifecycle, including onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and periodic reviews, ensuring timely completion and alignment with established program requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier controls across multiple risk domains, identify gaps, recommend remediation actions, and escalate complex or material risks to management.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Information Security, Procurement, Enterprise Risk, and business teams to communicate assessment findings and support risk mitigation discussions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve TPRM frameworks, assessment methodologies, workflows, and reporting, and contribute to defined improvement initiatives with guidance from senior team members.
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and remediation activities by maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to the resolution of findings.
  • Use third-party risk management platforms, AI-enabled tools, and automation to improve assessment efficiency, documentation, and monitoring while applying appropriate human oversight.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in third-party risk management, enterprise risk management, compliance, or audit.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and documenting findings within established risk management or compliance frameworks.
  • Experience evaluating control effectiveness and identifying risk or control gaps.
  • Experience documenting or recommending remediation actions for identified control deficiencies.
  • Experience using vendor management or governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platforms to support risk assessments, documentation, or monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of interagency guidance and regulatory expectations related to third-party risk management.
  • Experience contributing to improvements in third-party risk management programs, frameworks, or assessment methodologies.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, or remediation of audit findings.
  • Skills in data analysis, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve risk management processes.
  • Experience in financial services, banking, or fintech environments, including exposure to evolving regulatory requirements.
