About this role
About TruckSmarter
Trucking powers the American economy, moving 71% of the nation’s freight and representing nearly $900 billion in annual spend. Yet despite its scale, the industry still runs on fragmented systems, phone calls, emails, tribal knowledge, and manual coordination. TruckSmarter is changing that, starting with the people at the center of it all: truck drivers and small carriers.
We’re a team of fewer than 25 building Dispatch, an AI-powered operating layer for freight. Think Claude Code for trucking. Dispatch helps carriers navigate a constantly changing freight market, reason through complex tradeoffs, and execute operational workflows on their behalf.
The product is live, drivers are using it, and we’re now focused on making Dispatch dramatically smarter and more capable.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced mobile engineer to help us transform TruckSmarter’s new vision into a reality for all the freight industry. In this role, you’ll:
Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance mobile applications for iOS and/or Android platforms using React Native (with support to learn React Native on the job).
Provide guidance on mobile app best practices, coding standards, and new technologies.
Review code and offer constructive feedback to peers to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to align on requirements and deliver solutions.
Design frontend deployment pipelines balancing velocity and reliability to help frontend engineers build excellent product experiences for our users.
Make crucial architectural decisions that will impact feature development for years to come.
What You'll Do
Owning large surface area within our product & see things go from 0 to 1.
Comfort in ambiguous situations. You'll be responsible for scaffolding out new web services and deciding on what tools and frameworks we will use moving forward.
Working across the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization through production.
A collaborative startup where you have full autonomy over your work and can make direct impact on users.
Solving problems with pragmatic yet sophisticated solutions - you know how to strive for simplicity without compromising the more complex use cases.
Comfortable working directly with designers across product and brand.
Work cross-functionally with the team to shape the product from strategy, definition to execution, validation, and future iterations.
What We're Looking For
3 - 7 years of experience building frontend applications that are used by a significant number of users.
Proficiency with technologies such as React Native/Flutter, React, and Next.js.
Experience with mobile design patterns (MVC, MVP, MVVM, VIPER), modern architecture, and best practices.
Prior experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the capability to drive cross-functional requirements with business, product, operations and engineering teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Working Model
We work in-person 5 days a week at our downtown San Francisco office. We believe the best products get built when people are in the same room. Fast feedback loops, real collaboration, and a team that genuinely enjoys working together. If that's how you do your best work, you'll fit right in.
We Offer
Full health, dental and vision coverage
Daily catered lunch provided in-office, plus dinner covered for anyone working past 6:00pm

About TruckSmarter
TruckSmarter provides owner-operators with a free load board and Dispatch, an AI-powered assistant that helps them find and book the best loads more efficiently. Logistics is one of the single largest industries in the world ($8-12T globally, $2T in the US). A single percent of improvement drives profound change to every corner of the world - from the cost of our goods, to the livelihoods of local communities, to even the impact on our environment. At TruckSmarter, we believe that to transform the industry, we must focus first on truck drivers. Trucks move 71% of freight in America & represent nearly 6% of the American workforce. However, despite the industry being one of the greatest levers of innovation throughout history, it is still deeply fragmented & structurally misaligned. Our mission is to empower truck driver's lives &, by doing so, build the future of the industry. Join us!
