About us
At Trainline, our purpose is to empower greener travel choices, connecting people and places. Trainline enables millions of travellers to find and book the best value tickets across carriers, fares, and journey options through our highly rated mobile app, website, and B2B partner channels.
Great journeys start with Trainline 🚄
We’re Europe’s leading independent rail platform, helping millions of travellers find and book the best-value rail and coach journeys across our app, website and partner channels.
Our job is to make the green travel choice the best choice. By building a better train travel experience, we help more people choose rail - creating a positive impact for customers, our business and the planet.
We’re a team of more than 1,000 Trainliners from over 50 nationalities, working across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. Now is a brilliant time to join us and help shape the future of travel.
Introducing Design at Trainline 👋
At Trainline, we’re focused on making rail the most convenient, compelling and sustainable way to travel. Design plays a central role in how we deliver on that ambition, bringing together customer insight, creativity and technology to build experiences that people trust, value and return to. Our UX team, led by Will Barker (UX Director, formerly IDEO and Samsung), is committed to building the world’s #1 rail platform, and we believe great design helps businesses grow, adapt with confidence and keep delivering value as they scale.
Within our Pricing & Value team, we want to transform how our product helps customers find the best value for their train travel, and celebrate the savings we help them make along the way. This role will help shape how customers feel when they use Trainline, strengthening our position in the UK market while driving innovation across a number of exciting pricing and value experiences. You’ll partner with fellow Product Designers in the Value space as part of a larger Product and Design community, sharing ideas, craft and learning as you go.
In this role as the Lead Product Designer, Pricing & Value, you will... 🚄
Help define how customers should feel when using our product, so they are confident they are getting the best value for their journey
Lead design across a set of pricing and value initiatives, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on, high-quality execution
Shape experiences that celebrate the savings we help customers make, strengthening our position in the UK market
Work closely with Product, Engineering and Data partners to explore, validate and deliver experiences on both Android and iOS apps, ensuring information is timely, interactions are intuitive, and customer needs are at the centre of every decision
From early discovery through to experimentation and delivery, use insight, craft and data to continuously improve outcomes, playing a key role in shaping how customers experience Trainline when it matters most
Collaborate with other Product Designers in the Value space and the wider Product and Design community, helping keep experiences coherent and raising the quality bar together
Share clear, compelling stories that bring colleagues together around complex problems and help shape priorities
Explore how AI-enabled tools and workflows can improve the speed and effectiveness of how we design
We’d love to hear from you if you have... 🔍
Significant experience leading Product Design or UX within complex, consumer-facing digital products
Experience designing journey-based, real-time or service-oriented experiences, particularly where clarity and trust are critical
Strong hands-on design skills, including high proficiency in Figma and a genuine passion for craft and quality
A history of using research, insight and data-informed experimentation to improve outcomes
Confidence designing across channels, ideally with a focus on mobile apps and strong interaction and information design skills
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to align partners around complex problems
