EEE Component Reliability Engineer

EEE COMPONENT RELIABILITY ENGINEER

The EEE Component Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the design engineer community towards higher reliability EEE components, avionics, and systems. This person ensures SpaceX can continue to use commercial electronics from a wide range of manufacturers. The Reliability Engineer is a key member that is involved with evaluating the quality and reliability of components for the design community. This engineer will also help ensure robust qualification of our custom silicon by planning, executing, and documenting appropriate reliability testing. This work impacts all stages of design and production and must interface with supply chain, design & test engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead component reliability test planning, methodology and execution
• Help drive piece part reliability issues and risk towards closure
• Drive analysis processes for all failures discovered during reliability testing
• Build reliability prediction models/Finite Element Models to evaluate product functional performance over mission life conditions
• Interface with SpaceX departments such as supply chain, design & test engineering, and production/manufacturing
• Evaluate failure analysis and coordinate destructive physical analysis investigations to provide corrective actions and paths to closure
• Execute testing campaigns to assess reliability of hardware and components

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering or reliability
• 1+ years of work experience touching reliability testing methodologies (JEDEC/AEC-Q100)
• Experience with embedded C programming

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Familiarity building HTOL hardware/software, and execution of reliability testing of semiconductor products
• Experience using bench tools for electrical analysis (oscilloscopes, waveform generators, SMUs)
• Familiarity with semiconductor ATE testing and bench analysis
• Experienced with life testing methods (HALT/HASS, HTOL, ESS, JEDEC, AEC-Q100)
• Familiar with reliability statistics, including Weibull Analysis
• Familiarity with FEA and PCB Design Analysis capability (Sherlock/ANSYS or alternative)
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Level 1: $105,000.00 - $145,000.00
Level 2: $120,000.00 - $175,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
