Civil Engineer, Water Resources

CIVIL ENGINEER, WATER RESOURCES

As a member of the Construction Projects Team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable SpaceX to achieve its long-term mission. This team is responsible for the delivery of large capital projects to various internal customer groups across the Company. This position is currently based out of the Bastrop area. Travel may accompany this role, and based on business needs, opportunities to work at other SpaceX facilities may occur in the future.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and build industrial water resources projects, including water treatment and delivery infrastructure, at a rapid pace to support company objectives
• Perform all calculations necessary for hydraulics, filtration, water quality, domestic and non-potable water distribution, and other underground utilities
• Manage the civil and water resources aspects of construction projects in the field
• Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clients
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline
• 2+ years of professional experience in the engineering or construction of water resources projects

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Previous experience with civil design software packages including AutoCAD and/or Civil3D
• Working knowledge of hydraulic modeling and software
• Knowledge of processes of governing permitting and/or environmental agencies
• Understanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying that are necessary to efficiently construct infrastructure
• Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Working conditions may be in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
• Able to lift heavy objects up to 25 lbs unassisted
• Able to respond to emergencies to support priority projects, missions, and launches
• Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed based on site operational needs; flexibility is required
• Able to work in extreme outdoor environments when needed - heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
• Able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Able to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed (up to 25%)
