About this role

About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

What you'll do

  • Set priorities and strategy across production lines, manufacturing sites, and product programs, helping the team focus on the highest-impact opportunities.

  • Define the operating system for process change, including validation expectations, production readiness gates, and documentation standards that support repeatable, scalable manufacturing.

  • Drive cross-functional execution on high-impact initiatives, including production ramps, escape prevention, and major engineering change notices (ECNs).

  • Establish clear standards for process controls, training systems, and escalation paths so teams can identify issues early, respond effectively, and sustain improvements.

  • Own the process performance narrative: where we are winning, where we are losing, and why - using data, structured problem solving, and manufacturing insight to guide decisions.

  • Make clear readiness calls for process capability and control at key milestones, balancing speed, quality, and operational risk.

  • Sponsor complex root cause analyses (RCAs) and ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are effective, verified, and embedded into the way we work.

  • Develop team capability through mentoring, coaching, and setting the technical bar for process engineering excellence.

What we're looking for

  • Strong systems thinking and leadership in a high-velocity manufacturing environment, with the ability to connect technical detail to broader operational outcomes.

  • Ability to build clarity and alignment across many stakeholders, including Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and site teams.

  • Track record of scaling engineering teams and processes in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong partnership with Quality on systemic risk, audit strategy, process control, and escape prevention.

  • Willingness to travel frequently as required, approximately 20%; when you're the right person to be on site to own your change, you're there.
