About this role

Gritt is an intelligent system that combines robotics and AI to build the infrastructure that pulls society forward. Gritt deploys via simple attachments to common equipment found on construction sites and autonomously performs labor-intensive tasks, verification, and planning. Gritt systems are already building critical infrastructure in the harshest outdoor environments, starting with large-scale solar. The founding team includes experts in robotics and AI from Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, and MIT. Gritt is backed by Obvious Ventures, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Climactic, Congruent Ventures, and other leading firms.

Role: Accounting & Finance Manager

Location: SF Bay Area (in-person)

About the Role

Gritt is hiring an Accounting & Finance Manager to own day-to-day financial operations and serve as the primary finance partner to our CFO. You will lead month-end close, regular tax filings, and financial reporting for the leadership and the Board, while also partnering with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analyses.

You will also take on higher-judgment finance work including investor and audit inquiries, and building out financial infrastructure at Gritt. We expect you to bring a genuine accounting foundation to the role while also being comfortable operating across the broader finance function.

The ideal candidate has accounting expertise, thinks analytically about what the numbers mean for the business, and is excited about using AI tools to build a more efficient and scalable finance function at a growing startup.

What You’ll Do:

Accounting Operations

  • Lead all accounting operations including COA management, GL, revenue recognition; oversee month-end close, review and approve bookkeeper work to ensure accuracy and timeliness, working with existing book-keeping provider

  • Oversee tax implications of projects and ensure proper tax registrations, filings, and payments, working with existing tax service provider

  • Prepare financial statements and management reports for the leadership and the Board of Directors

  • Manage billing, accounts receivable, and collections, including direct follow-up when needed

  • Manage accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements; implement and oversee procurement process

  • Respond to investor and audit inquiries with accuracy and professionalism

Planning & Analysis

  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actuals analysis, financial reporting, operating metrics

  • Support board and investor reporting, including gross margin tracking, cost structure analysis, unit economics tracking, and scenario planning

  • Prepare ad hoc analyses to support data-driven decision making across leadership

Financial Ops

  • Design and maintain internal controls; implement and maintain expense policies; ensure audit-traceable processes

  • Own and improve our accounting and treasury systems; manage third-party integrations; automate repeatable finance processes

  • Help us design the proper Finance function for an AI-native company, and contribute to getting us there

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience, with a genuine accounting foundation

  • Experience with financial statement preparation and budget development

  • Experience with hardware & equipment accounting

  • Superb Excel and G-sheet skills and comfort with financial modeling and data manipulation

  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks Online a strong plus)

  • Startup experience, or a clear appetite and skills for the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage company

  • Demonstrated interest in AI tools and their application to finance work

Preferred

  • CPA or working toward one

  • Mercury or Ramp (or other spend-management platforms)

  • Clear communicator of financial information to non-finance audiences; ability to collaborate cross-functionally

  • Hands-on experience building AI-assisted automations in a finance or accounting context
