About this role

About the Team

DoorDash’s centralized, global TPM organization helps Engineering deliver the company’s most complex and consequential technical, product, and business transformations. The team spans DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo and partners across a global Engineering organization of approximately 4,000 engineers.

We have intentionally built a lean, high-leverage TPM organization with a high bar for technical depth, business judgment, and independent domain ownership. Our leaders stay close to the business and technical work, lead through strong senior IC TPMs, and shape the operating mechanisms that allow complex organizations to execute at speed.

This Director will lead 12 TPMs (one-quarter of the global TPM organization) and report directly to the VP of Engineering Operations. Their team supports nearly 1,300 engineers across five strategically important organizations: Dasher & Logistics, Ads & Promotions, Merchant, DashOS, and Platform Services.

About the Role

As Director of Technical Program Management, you will lead a high-performing team of TPMs embedded across some of DoorDash’s most important and technically complex businesses. Your portfolio spans the real-time fulfillment network that powers every delivery, a multi-billion dollar ads revenue platform, DoorDash’s merchant ecosystem and in-store technology, and platforms that enable merchants and other businesses to access our logistics network through offerings such as Drive and Parcels.

You will partner closely with a VP and four Senior Directors to set direction, strengthen execution, develop TPM talent, and solve the cross-organizational challenges that sit between teams, systems, and business priorities. You will also play a central role in Pedregal, DoorDash’s multi-year global platform re-architecture across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo while maintaining production availability and continuing to build for each business’ evolving requirements.

We believe the future of TPM leadership is defined by leverage, not layers. This role is for a forward-looking leader who can develop an intentionally lean, high-performing team, use AI to amplify its impact, and shape strategy and organizational capability while remaining meaningfully connected to the work.

You must be located near San Francisco, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, or Seattle, WA for this hybrid position.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead and develop 12 TPMs supporting nearly 1,300 engineers across five strategic engineering organizations.
  • Partner with senior Engineering and Product leaders to shape portfolio strategy, investment tradeoffs, technical sequencing, risk management, and organizational operating models.
  • Help scale DoorDash’s core delivery network; accelerate the next several billion dollars of Ads growth; build the merchant operating system; and expand access to DoorDash logistics through Drive and Parcels.
  • Establish durable mechanisms for execution, technical readiness, decision-making, and cross-functional alignment across highly interdependent organizations.
  • Develop exceptional TPM talent and create an environment where senior ICs can own broad, strategic scope and serve as trusted partners to Engineering leadership.
  • Help define the next evolution of a modern TPM organization, identifying the strategic initiatives, technical transformations, and organizational capabilities where AI-enabled ways of working can increase the pace and quality of execution.

We’re excited about you because you have…

  • 12+ years of TPM experience, including 7+ years leading TPM teams. You have demonstrated success leading a team that supports a broad, complex technical portfolio in a high-growth technology company.
  • Deep commitment to developing talent and building culture within your team, setting a high bar for technical depth, ownership, sound judgment, and independent execution. You hire, coach, and promote strong TPMs who are technical leaders, focus on outcomes over process, and consistently deliver business value while improving engineering efficiency and collaboration.
  • The technical and business judgment to identify and align your team to the highest-impact opportunities as well as make thoughtful investment and sequencing tradeoffs.
  • The technical credibility to engage with Engineering leaders on architecture, platform migrations, system dependencies, reliability, and risk, while translating that complexity into clear decisions and execution plans.
  • A track record of leading large-scale, multi-year transformations that require alignment across multiple organizations, systems, products, and stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset that shapes how engineering delivers. You consistently identify and resolve ambiguous business, technical, operational, and organizational issues. You also build these capabilities in your team and your stakeholders.
  • An instinct for building durable operating mechanisms rather than relying on personal heroics: clear ownership, decision forums, execution cadences, risk management, and accountability.
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills. You build trust with your TPM peers and with senior engineering leaders, surface difficult issues directly, create clarity in ambiguity, and align teams around shared outcomes.
  • Curiosity and practical fluency with AI-enabled ways of working, with a point of view on how technology can improve execution and unlock new strategic possibilities.
  • Experience operating effectively with globally distributed teams and across different organizational cultures, time zones, and business contexts.
