We are an accounting and advisory firm that provides consulting services to industries including construction, real estate, manufacturing, and franchise; and niche areas like professional services, trust and estate, and retail. Staff Auditor

A Staff Auditor should be able to work independently, complete work accurately and in a timely manner, and establish workload priorities. In addition, a Staff Auditor should contribute to a team environment, assisting those around them. This role supports audit engagements through planning, risk assessment, testing, documentation, and client deliverables while continuing to develop technical accounting and auditing knowledge.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of GAAS

  • Participate in audit engagement file organization and documentation

  • Work with the engagement team during assessment of audit risk, planning, and design of audit procedures

  • Understand and utilize the firm's audit methodology

  • Prepare and perform substantive testing on clients' balance sheets and income statements

  • Obtain an understanding and assessment of clients' internal controls and make recommendations for improvement through the risk assessment process

  • Audit more simplistic areas and transactions and assist with preparing client deliverable reports

  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to Seniors, Managers, and Partners

  • Assist in identifying and improving performance on engagements

  • Ensure professional development through active continuing professional education

  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives, including recruitment

  • Audit engagement files are organized and documented accurately and completely

  • Assigned audit procedures and testing are completed accurately and in a timely manner

  • Audit methodology and professional standards are consistently followed

  • Accounting and auditing issues are appropriately identified and communicated to engagement leadership

  • Internal control observations and recommendations are documented through the risk assessment process

Key results / expectations

  • Works independently while appropriately prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines

  • Contributes positively to the engagement team and supports teammates as needed

  • Demonstrates developing knowledge of GAAP and GAAS through engagement participation

  • Successfully performs substantive testing and completes assigned audit sections

  • Maintains effective communication with clients, staff, managers, and partners

  • Demonstrates reliability and a positive attitude in the working environment

Skill / knowledge requirements

  • Understanding of audit services with developing knowledge of GAAP and GAAS

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate with clients, staff, managers, and partners

  • Demonstrated experience or ability to act as in-charge on audit sections

  • Reliable with a positive attitude toward the working environment

Professional experience requirements

  • 0-3 years of current or recent public accounting experience providing financial statement auditing services

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field

  • CPA license or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a CPA license, including required coursework
