About this role

This role blends the tech and human story. As our Principal Social Media Manager, you'll show what an AI leader in mobility looks like to the insurance, automotive, and public-sector leaders who depend on us, the AI talent who want to build here, and the wider industry watching where mobility AI goes next. You'll put road safety in front of millions of people: drivers, families, and the companies that can change what happens on the road. Behind every number in our data is a person who made it home. Your job is to make people see it, share it, and act on it. Your work will help save lives.

You'll build CMT's social presence from the ground up: start our paid social program, make LinkedIn the place industry leaders follow for mobility AI, and use Instagram and Facebook to show the people and culture behind the work. You'll create amazing content yourself, shape it for each platform, put paid behind what wins and works, and use AI to move faster than teams twice our size.

You'll have a design team, a paid budget, and direct access to leadership. You'll report to the Director of Marketing and work daily with Communications, Design, Product Marketing, Events, and People Operations.

CMT is looking for a Principal Social Media Manager I to help us change the world. CMT has helped protect over 65 million drivers and prevent over 126,000 crashes worldwide. We build AI to solve some of the most difficult challenges in mobility - understanding and reducing risk, detecting crashes, and getting people life-saving help. The problems are hard. The impact is real. No matter your role, your work will matter at CMT.

Responsibilities:

  • Use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute CMT's organic and paid social media strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, aligning content with business goals and growth opportunities
  • Own and manage the social media calendar, supporting product launches, research, company news, events, recruiting, and industry trends
  • Create and publish engaging, platform-specific content, including short-form videos, carousels, graphics, and photography
  • Partner with AI, Data Science, Product, and Marketing teams to translate CMT's technology, products, and research into compelling, accessible content
  • Collaborate with Design and Employer Brand to maintain brand consistency, elevate creative content, and support talent acquisition initiatives
  • Plan, execute, and optimize paid social campaigns, including audience targeting, creative testing, budget management, and performance analysis
  • Develop employee advocacy initiatives and partner with Sales to expand CMT's reach and engagement with target audiences
  • Manage social media engagement, community relationships, and social listening to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential issues
  • Establish and track social media KPIs, analyze performance, and provide actionable recommendations to Marketing leadership
  • Leverage AI tools to streamline content creation, optimize performance, and develop scalable workflows for the Marketing team
  • Stay current on platform trends, emerging technologies, and social media best practices to continuously improve CMT's social presence
  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in marketing, communications, journalism, film, or a related field
  • 7+ years of relevant working experience running social media for B2B technology or AI companies, in-house or at an agency, including paid social
  • A portfolio of content you produced yourself, with results for each platform
  • Proven record growing audience and engagement on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, with numbers to show it
  • Hands-on experience running paid campaigns in LinkedIn Campaign Manager and Meta Ads Manager, with budgets you owned
  • Strong video skills: plan, shoot on a phone or camera, edit in Premiere, CapCut, Descript, or similar, and caption for each platform
  • Expert in the native analytics for each platform; can pull a report, explain what it means, and say what to do next
  • At the cutting edge of AI for social: you use Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI image and video tools every day to make content and improve results
  • Fluent in AI and data: you learn complex technology fast, explain how models and data work in plain words, and spot the story in technical work; strong writer and editor
  • A self-starter who finds the next idea, tests it, and reports back without being asked
  • Experience building or running an employee advocacy program
  • Experience with social tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or Sprinklr, plus Canva and HubSpot
  • Good judgment on brand voice, timing, and risk; calm and fast when something goes sideways
  • Able to work from the Cambridge office three days a week and travel up to 15% for events
  • Please share links to accounts, campaigns, or posts you have produced

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience marketing AI, data, or deep-tech products, or working in insurance, automotive, or mobility
  • Experience using paid social for account-based marketing
  • Experience working with creators or influencers

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Fair and competitive salary based on skills and experience, and annual performance bonus
  • Equity may be awarded in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, matching 401k, short-term & long-term disability and parental leave
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off including vacation, sick days & public holidays

  • Be part of the team inventing the future of mobility and road safety
  • Move fast, own outcomes, do work that matters
  • High ownership, small teams, and direct access to leadership - no layers between your work and its impact
  • Unlimited PTO, flexible scheduling, competitive salary, annual performance bonus, RSUs, and full benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401k match
  • Summer Fridays provide team members with half days to recharge
  • Join one of our employee resource groups: Black, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, Women, Book Club, and Health & Wellness
  • Comprehensive wellness, education, and employee assistance programs
