About this role
ANYbotics is a fast-growing tech company dedicated to shaping the future of mobile robotics across multiple industries. Join our highly talented and motivated team of more than 200 people and work on cutting-edge robot technology.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior Electronics Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. In this role, you will take end-to-end technical ownership of our high-complexity Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), directly impacting the reliability and capability of our autonomous mobile robots (ANYmal). You will bridge the gap between advanced concept designs and ruggedized, industrial-grade production, helping us scale our electronics architecture for harsh and hazardous environments.
The Market & Our Technology
ANYbotics is revolutionizing industrial inspection with ANYmal, our quadrupedal robot designed to navigate the world’s most challenging environments - from offshore oil platforms to complex chemical plants. Our technology integrates advanced robotics software with robust hardware that must withstand extreme conditions, strict EMI/EMC standards, and rigorous safety certifications. By developing highly sophisticated, reliable, and optimized electronics, you enable our robots to operate autonomously where humans cannot.
Your Impact
- Take full technical ownership and product care of 1-2 key high-complexity PCBAs (e.g., our complex communication switches or Battery Management Systems)
- Drive the PCBA development process from initial architecture and schematics through layout, prototyping, debugging, and production handover
- Strategically review and simplify our current PCBA portfolio across ANYmal product lines to optimize system architecture
- Establish rigorous test specifications and verification protocols to ensure flawless execution during productization
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate electronics seamlessly into the robot
- Champion high-quality engineering standards within the EE team, bringing strong industrial experience to the table
Your Profile
- Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field with at least 7 years of hands-on experience developing electronics boards for industrial, aerospace, or military applications
- Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard ECAD software (e.g., KiCad, Altium) and simulation tools like SPICE
- Proven track record of layouting your own complex designs with strict creepage, clearance, and isolation constraints for safety-critical applications
- Extensive experience designing for harsh environments, including a strong background in meeting EMI/EMC compliance and functional safety standards
- Deep expertise in debugging, verification, and defining testing specifications for manufacturing production
- Strong proficiency in at least two of the following areas: Battery Management Systems (BMS), power electronics/motor drives, high-speed interfaces (USB, EtherCAT, WiFi), or MCU-based embedded systems
- Highly accountable mindset with the ability to make firm technical decisions and own the outcomes in a dynamic environment
Bonus Points
- Experience with Explosion-proof (Ex-protection) electronics design or hazardous-area applications
- Background in wireless electronics design or Edge AI Compute Hardware
- Direct experience working within the robotics or autonomous systems industry
- Familiarity with InvenTree or similar modern tools for component and inventory management
We offer you a very exciting and dynamic work environment, the opportunity to become part of a fast-growing company and an ambitious team that is on a mission to change the industrial inspection market, a chance to leverage your experience and bring in your own ideas, a fair market salary, an attractive employee stock ownership plan, and a job in the city of Zurich. Agency Policy: We are not currently partnering with external search firms or recruitment agencies.
