About this role
About Poshmark
Poshmark is the leading fashion marketplace where style comes alive through discovery, self-expression, and human connection. Powered by a vibrant community of 165 million members, Poshmark brings real people and taste to shopping through a social experience shaped by shared discovery. Buying and selling fashion feels simple, joyful, and personal, while every item tells its own story. Poshmark empowers sellers to grow meaningful businesses, keeps fashion in circulation longer, and gives shoppers access to unique and trusted finds, from everyday pieces to one-of-a-kind vintage and luxury.
As a Senior Product Designer on the Product Design team, you'll independently lead complex design projects across the end-to-end buyer and seller experience on iOS, Android and web, shaping the look, feel and functionality of a marketplace used by millions. You'll partner with product management, engineering, research and marketing to turn user insight and data into designs that move business KPIs. It's a chance to own hard two-sided marketplace problems from first research through launch and iteration, while raising the craft bar for the team.
Responsibilities
Design
Independently lead complex design projects through the full process: user research, concepts, storyboards, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, presentations and iteration.
Design complex interfaces and experiences from scratch, translating designs across native mobile (iOS, Android) and responsive web.
Define the look, feel and functionality of features, and create final designs with detailed interaction specifications for engineering handoff.
Identify research opportunities; set hypotheses, plan and run user research and usability tests to validate designs before development, and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
Build a deep understanding of buyer and seller needs, pain points and behavior, and advocate for the user throughout the design process.
Contribute to and uphold our design system and design standards for visual and interaction consistency.
Work with engineering to understand technical implications (native device specifics, APIs, server, feed protocol) and design within those constraints.
Product
Partner with product leadership, PMs and engineering to define product strategy, project goals and long-term design goals.
Define user and product goals that support business KPIs, and use metrics and qualitative feedback to shape and justify design decisions.
Collaborate with researchers, data analysts, marketing, GTM and copy to create designs that meet business requirements, support user needs, delight and are technically feasible.
Give constructive feedback on product specs and make trade-off decisions that balance aesthetics, performance, accessibility and the customer journey.
Drive concepts for new and existing features, and contribute to areas outside your focus area.
Leadership
Present design decisions to stakeholders and senior leadership, and turn feedback into clear next steps.
Facilitate design thinking workshops and brainstorms that build a collaborative environment.
Lead and delegate when multiple designers work on the same project.
Mentor junior designers, review designs, help develop design workflow best practices, and take part in recruiting.
6-Month Accomplishments
Become the subject-matter expert for the buyer and seller experience and fluent in our design system and native components.
Independently lead and ship at least one medium-to-large project, from research through handoff specs and post-launch feedback.
Run at least one user research or usability study that validates a design before development.
Break down an upcoming project into user stories with PM and engineering.
Facilitate at least one design thinking workshop or brainstorm with cross-functional partners.
12+ Month Accomplishments
Help define long-term design goals and user and product goals for the buyer and seller experience with product leadership.
Deliver designs with measurable impact on business KPIs.
Lead a project where multiple designers contribute, delegating and coordinating the work.
Introduce or improve at least one design workflow best practice or design system standard.
Provide regular mentorship to a junior designer and contribute to recruiting.
Requirements
4 - 6 years of product design experience, including end-to-end UX work from research through prototyping, iteration and post-launch feedback.
A portfolio showing complex interfaces and experiences designed from scratch for native mobile and responsive web, with strong interaction and visual craft.
Hands-on experience planning and running user research and usability testing, and turning findings into design decisions.
Subject-matter expertise in at least one key area, and solid knowledge of native iOS and Android components and patterns.
Fluency in Figma and prototyping tools, and experience contributing to a design system.
Comfort with metrics: you ground design decisions in data and qualitative feedback.
Able to break down medium-complexity projects into user stories and deliver medium-to-large projects with limited supervision.
Strong communication and presentation skills with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
Experience mentoring designers and giving constructive design feedback.
Nice to have
Experience with two-sided marketplaces, e-commerce or social/community products.
A passion for fashion, resale or sustainability.
Hands-on experience running UX research and usability tests, and iterating on results, including using AI tools to speed up concepting and prototyping.
Motion design, illustration or front-end prototyping skills.
Experience designing with or for AI-powered features (e.g. listing assistance, recommendations).
