Senior Machinist

About the role

Muon seeks a Machinist ( Senior ) to join our Team. You'll own the machined parts the engineering teams depend on for testing and flight - embedded between engineering and the machine shop. Design reviews on Tuesday, dialing in fixturing on Wednesday, owning first-article inspection on Friday. The named point of contact for components as it moves from CAD to finished parts

This position is fully on-site at our San Jose office, five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC mills and lathes for flight components​
• Sit in testing and tooling design reviews to flag manufacturability and tolerance issues early​
• develop fixturing, tooling, and processes to produce tooling faster and more efficiently. ​
• Own first-article and in-process QC for hardware​
• Document via MES; write non-conformance tickets; maintain traceability​
• Train shop team and engineers on tooling and component-specific machining processes.​

Qualifications

• 5+ years machining for aerospace, medical, or other high-precision industries​
• Programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills; CAM (Fusion 360, MasterCAM, or similar)​
• Haas controller experience & Fanuc ​
• Strong metrology fundamentals; comfortable with inspection tools​
• Comfortable with brittle materials (graphite, composites, ceramics)​
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual (ITAR)​
• Able to achieve security level clearance if needed

Nice-to-have Skills

• Matsuura, Yasda, and Haas experience​
• CMM programming ​
• Tooling, Test lab & class 7+ Cleanroom experience
• Exotic alloys, Graphite or brittle-material machining experience​

Salary

The salary range for this role is $129,000-166,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
