About this role

Lead FP&A

Location: Hybrid in NYC (3 day in-office requirement)

Qualifications:

  • Deep FP&A or strategic finance experience, including building and owning complex financial models that connect operational and product-level drivers to the P&L
  • Experience partnering directly with Partnerships, Business Development, Sales, or other commercial organizations, with the ability to evaluate deal economics, investment decisions, and ongoing partner performance
  • Strong understanding of SaaS, fintech, payments, or other businesses with subscription and/or transaction-based revenue models
  • Advanced financial modeling skills and the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership
  • Strong planning systems experience, with the ability to understand how business drivers, assumptions, and reporting structures should translate into scalable financial models
  • The ability to challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and operate as a strategic thought partner rather than simply reporting results
  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to make complex financial concepts understandable to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience reviewing and improving the work of other finance professionals and helping establish consistent modeling and analytical standards

Bonus points:

  • Deep hands-on Anaplan experience, including building or maintaining models, improving model architecture, developing reporting, and translating business requirements into scalable planning solutions
  • Experience supporting a Partnerships, Business Development, or channel organization in a fintech, SaaS, or payments environment
  • Experience evaluating partnership economics, including acquisition costs, revenue share, pricing, margins, customer activation, retention, and lifetime value
  • Experience with Snowflake or working directly with large financial and operational datasets
  • Experience through an acquisition or integration, particularly within a larger parent company
  • A history of introducing new analytical, forecasting, or modeling standards across a finance organization
  • Experience preparing materials and analysis for CFO, CEO, or Board-level audiences

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

  • Serve as the primary Finance partner for the Partnerships organization, developing a deep understanding of the partner portfolio, pipeline, economics, and strategic priorities
  • Build business cases for new and existing partnerships, evaluating customer acquisition, activation, revenue, margin, retention, investment requirements, and long-term value
  • Partner with Partnerships leadership to establish targets, evaluate performance, identify risks and opportunities, and incorporate the latest outlook into the broader financial forecast
  • Own and improve key Anaplan models and planning processes, ensuring our financial models are scalable, well-structured, and connected to the way the business actually operates
  • Build and own complex models behind strategic initiatives such as new partnerships, market expansion, pricing changes, and product launches, and turn the analysis into recommendations leadership can act on
  • Connect detailed operational assumptions to the long-term plan and understand how changes in individual business drivers ultimately flow through to the broader P&L
  • Identify structural risks and opportunities before they materialize in reported results, challenging assumptions and helping business leaders understand the financial implications of their decisions
  • Partner across Partnerships, Product, Sales, Data, R&D, and corporate Finance teams across Melio and Xero to align financial strategy with operational plans
  • Help raise the analytical standard of the broader FP&A team by improving modeling practices, planning processes, documentation, and how we use Anaplan

About the team:

The FP&A team plays a strategic role in shaping Melio and Xero's growth in the US. We're deeply involved in commercial strategy, partnerships, product decisions, financial modeling, forecasting, and decision-making at the highest levels.

Following Melio's acquisition by Xero, our responsibilities have expanded significantly. We're helping build an integrated view of the US business while supporting a growing portfolio of products, channels, and strategic partnerships.

This role will sit at the intersection of Finance, Partnerships, and financial systems, making it particularly well suited for someone who enjoys both strategic business partnership and building the financial infrastructure required to support a rapidly scaling business.

You'll work alongside commercial, product, data, engineering, and finance teams and have significant exposure to senior leadership. If you want to do finance in a high-growth fintech environment where your analysis directly influences commercial and strategic decisions, this is the opportunity.
