About this role
Join our R&D Tech Hub in Warsaw
We’re building a new R&D Tech Hub in Poland and are looking for people who want to make a real impact from day one. You’ll be part of a globally connected team, helping to shape the culture and ways of working at our new location. This is a hands-on role in a supportive environment, where collaboration, learning, and adaptability are key.
We value practical problem-solving, diverse perspectives, and people who take ownership. If you're ready to contribute to meaningful projects and help lay the foundation for a growing team, we’d like to hear from you.
About the role: What's in the Box
HelloFresh is searching for an action-oriented servant leader for our warehouse management system (WMS) Software Engineering and Product functions. This leader owns the full software delivery lifecycle for HelloFresh's global warehouse fulfillment and inventory control domain - from architecture and product design through engineering execution, quality assurance, and operational reliability. You will drive a culture of product & engineering excellence, leveraging modern agentic tooling and AI-assisted workflows to increase team velocity, reduce defect escape rates, and accelerate deployment confidence.
You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across technology, operations, automation/production technology, procurement, and finance to deliver innovative solutions on our strategic WMS platform - Infios's Warehouse Advantage (Körber/Highjump) - while balancing competing priorities and technical resource demand.
The Director of WMS Engineering and Product will work with key technology and product leaders across HelloFresh to enable the inventory management and control domain strategy, evaluate technology-related priorities, and translate stakeholder needs into actionable roadmaps. The ideal candidate combines impeccable management and communication skills with a practitioner's instinct for modern software delivery - knowing how to build high-performing teams, establish engineering health metrics, and integrate AI-assisted tooling that meaningfully accelerates quality and velocity.
What you’ll do: The Recipe
- WMS Solution Ownership: Provide technical direction, development oversight, and performance accountability for HelloFresh's deployment of Infios's Warehouse Advantage (Körber/Highjump) WMS platform across all global locations
- Integration Architecture & Reliability: Drive WMS application layer Integration architecture to upstream tooling and host systems via CI/CD pipelines [Debezium/Kafka to Snowflake/Databricks]
- Platform Architecture: Partner/ support as needed the Hosting Architecture team in the optimal sizing and performance of WMS Architecture in AWS
- Agentic Engineering & Developer Productivity: Champion and drive adoption of agentic engineering practices across the team: automated code review tooling (e.g., AI-assisted PR analysis, static analysis agents, LLM-powered code quality gates), AI-augmented test generation and execution, and intelligent deployment pipelines. Measure and report the impact of these practices on delivery velocity and defect escape rate
- CI/CD & Deployment Automation: Own the maturity roadmap for CI/CD pipelines. Establish automated deployment workflows with robust rollback strategies, feature flagging, environment-specific gate checks, and infrastructure-as-code practices - enabling high-confidence, low-friction releases across all WMS environments
- Quality Engineering & Test Automation: Partner with WMS Services and Support leadership to build a world-class QA function. Drive adoption of automated regression suites, AI-assisted edge case generation, and contract testing for integrations. Push teams beyond happy-path coverage toward comprehensive scenario validation, including automated performance and load testing for peak fulfillment periods
- Engineering Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Establish DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time for change, change failure rate, and mean time to restore) as the foundation of engineering health reporting for the WMS organization. Set baselines, publish improvement targets, and use metric trends to identify bottlenecks, prioritize tooling and process investments, and communicate engineering performance to senior leadership
- Technical Roadmap & Architecture Governance: Partner with peers and senior leadership on architectural decision-making for WMS platform evolution, integration patterns, and technology transitions. Champion the use of structured design reviews to maintain coherent, scalable technical direction. Lead evaluations to refactor or replace legacy systems, including risk mitigation and transition planning
- Vendor & Capacity Management: Work with department leadership to source and partner with 3rd-party vendors to augment internal engineering capacity and expertise. Maintain vendor performance accountability and ensure structured knowledge transfer to build durable internal capability
- People Leadership & Talent Development: Coach, develop, and retain high-performing engineers, product managers, and team leads. Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to build organizational depth - playing an active role in recruiting, onboarding, and career development
- International Standardization/ Release Consolidation. Partner with departmental leadership, peer domains, and executive leadership to own the long term roadmap for product consolidation to a single application release version administered globally
- Cross-functional Leadership. Serve on both the Fulfillment Technology and overall Automation & Technology leadership teams, reinforcing HelloFresh DNA values, establishing KPIs, and prioritizing strategic initiatives at a departmental level
What you’ll bring: The Ingredients
Technical/Engineering Experience
- 10+ years of warehouse management system (WMS) software engineering and implementation experience with a tier-one WMS in an RF-based distribution, manufacturing, or e-commerce fulfillment environment
- 3+ years of direct hands-on experience with Infios's Warehouse Advantage (Körber/Highjump) WMS platform with SQL Server
- 3+ years managing application integrations via microservices and associated toolsets, including REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and ETL pipelines
- Demonstrated experience implementing or scaling CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing gates, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices across multi-environment WMS or fulfillment technology stacks
- Hands-on familiarity with agentic and AI-assisted engineering tools - including automated code review platforms, AI-assisted test generation, and LLM-powered developer productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, CodeRabbit, SonarQube AI, or equivalent) - with a track record of driving meaningful team-wide adoption and measurable impact
- Experience defining and tracking engineering delivery and quality metrics (DORA metrics or equivalent) and using data to drive process improvement and leadership reporting
- Experience leading evaluations to refactor or replace legacy systems, including developing and executing technology transition plans with appropriate risk mitigation strategies
Product Experience
- Experience leading a design and product process that scales a digital technology operations ecosystem across volume growth, multiple brands, and new digital properties
- Strategic thinker with the ability to build and execute innovative digital product strategy while executing tactically against multiple competing priorities simultaneously
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications, roadmaps, and delivery plans - and to communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to build leadership support for proactive technology investments, making the business case for engineering quality, automation, and platform modernization
Above all, we are looking for people who will make HelloFresh Group better. We believe there are many different ways of developing skills and we love diverse experiences! So even if you don’t “tick all the boxes” but think you’d thrive in this role, we would really like to learn more about you.
