About this role
Flagler Health is building the clinical operating system for modern musculoskeletal care.
We partner with MSK provider groups and specialty clinics to help them grow, operate more efficiently, and deliver better longitudinal care across patient acquisition, clinical workflows, and ongoing patient engagement. Our platform sits at the intersection of care delivery and clinic operations, helping providers capture more value across the full patient lifecycle.
We’ve recently raised our Series B and are entering our next phase of growth.
The Role:
We're hiring a Senior Data Scientist to own the analytics that tell us how the product and the business are actually performing. This is a product and operational analytics role, not a research role. You will answer the questions that shape decisions: where patients drop off, how cohorts behave over time, which parts of the clinical workflow are working, and what the numbers are telling us that nobody has noticed yet.
You will sit close to Product, Engineering, and Operations, and your work will be read by the executive team. The people who do well here are strong analytical thinkers who can also explain themselves clearly. Finding the insight is half the job. Getting the organization to act on it is the other half.
What You'll Do:
Own product and operational analytics across the platform, including retention, cohort behavior, funnel performance, and engagement.
Define and maintain the core metrics the company runs on, and make sure they mean the same thing to everyone.
Partner with Product and Engineering to instrument new features correctly and measure whether they worked.
Build analyses that answer open-ended operational questions, not just recurring reports.
Translate findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership.
Investigate anomalies in the data and drive them to root cause.
Build and maintain the dashboards, models, and data hygiene practices that make analysis repeatable.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in data science or analytics, ideally in a product-driven environment.
BS or equivalent, with a track record of strong analytical and logical reasoning.
Demonstrated depth in product or operational analytics: retention analysis, cohort analysis, funnel and engagement measurement.
Strong SQL and fluency in Python or R for analysis.
Genuine problem-solving orientation. You are comfortable with ambiguous questions and can define the analysis yourself.
Excellent communication and storytelling. You can walk through a problem you solved, the approach you chose, and why, and make it land with a non-technical audience.
Comfort operating in a fast-moving startup where the question changes before the dashboard is finished.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare, digital health, or another regulated data environment.
Experience building analytics infrastructure from an early stage.
Work Environment:
NYC preferred. Excellent candidates can work remotely.
We have video on for our weekly team syncs and pair-coding/tech discussions. Camera is required to be on during meetings.
Our Values:
This is what you can expect of your teammates at Flagler:
Owner: We own our work like founders. We don't wait to be asked, and we pick up the problem nobody else has.
Builder: We like making things from scratch. We don't need a playbook to start, and we'd rather ship a rough first version than wait on a perfect spec.
Fast: We make quick decisions. We favor progress and respect process.
Transparent: We communicate directly. We value merit and honesty, and we challenge assumptions, including our own.
Curious: We explore new approaches and ask "why" often.
