The Legal team is a strategic business area ensuring we navigate the complexities of a global business and acting as guardians of our legal integrity, providing expert advice to protect our interests, manage risks, and ensure compliance.

LONDON

Our London office is located in Old Street, London’s tech hub, and is home to a wide range of teams. Our open space is ideal for collaborative work and sharing ideas. We also have a large outdoor terrace, which is the perfect spot to have a team lunch or host events.

ROLE

The Legal Team at Farfetch is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - Regulatory for a broad regulatory and commercial role. This is a unique opportunity to advise on regulatory matters within a global, fast-moving and innovative business. You will enjoy a diverse role, delivering high-quality strategic legal advice across multiple operational territories in conjunction with our wider international Legal Team. You will work closely with the broader legal team and all business areas.

Acting as a true business partner, this role requires someone who is commercially minded, intellectually curious and hands-on, able to quickly understand and apply new sets of international laws and regulations - identifying and mitigating risks, as well as seizing opportunities. It is a role for someone with strong professional ethics and the energy, interest and experience to pursue a large array of regulatory and commercial matters.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Advise on payment regulation and broader regulatory frameworks, including in relation to digital regulation, product compliance and consumer protection
• Track and assess existing and new requirements for the Farfetch Group, with a focus on payments regulation, as well as advise on their implementation
• Identify, monitor and evaluate relevant regulatory risks and enforcement trends, and take proactive steps to mitigate these
• Develop strategies for, and engage with, relevant regulators
• Advise on commercial matters, including on contractual agreements with partners and payment processors, and ensure a compliant payment model
• Work on tariffs-related matters and advise from a legal perspective
• Negotiate, draft and review commercial contracts, policies, guidance and other legal documentation
• Provide proactive, strategic and pragmatic advice
• Liaise with external law firms, where external support is needed
• Support the Group Legal VP, Regulatory Legal Team and the business in ensuring it operates in a compliant manner
• Use legal technology and AI tools in an ethical way to deliver advice efficiently, and help the team adopt and get the best from these tools

WHO YOU ARE

• A qualified lawyer with at least 4 years’ PQE and superior analytical skills and creative problem-solving skills. Prior in-house experience would be beneficial
• Have excellent training, preferably in a top-tier law firm
• Have experience advising on payments regulation and commercial matters
• Have proven ability to assess new pieces of international legislation/regulation and apply them on a risk-based basis to a business
• Have the curiosity and ability to absorb a lot of information quickly, apply it in assessments, and drive implementation
• Be able to understand nuances and complexities, and translate these into commercial, pragmatic, and concise advice in the context of a global business
• Have a strong work ethic and attention to detail, be highly proactive, organized and efficient, able to work on fast-moving projects
• Be able to work autonomously but also well in teams, supervising legal counsel and supporting the Group Legal VP and Regulatory Legal Team
• Possess excellent communication, organization and drafting skills
• Driven, forward-thinking, robust, innovative and agile, with commercial acumen
