This hands-on role in the Financial Control team reports to the Director of Financial Control (MENA) and will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial control, statutory compliance, and high-quality financial reporting across the MENA entities.
The role is particularly focused on technical accounting, including the preparation of IFRS financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, audit lead schedules, and active support through the year-end audit cycle. It will also help strengthen the control environment through process improvement, automation, and the practical use of AI to enable more efficient processes and more meaningful financial analysis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional to join a high-growth, multinational environment and contribute to a best-in-class financial control function in a regulated and fast-evolving business.
What you will be doing
Prepare and support the review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS.
Draft statutory financial statements, including notes and supporting workings, for MENA entities and support the year-end close and external audit process.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, audit lead schedules, and variance analysis to support a robust month-end and year-end close process.
Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors, coordinating audit requests and ensuring audit support is prepared accurately and on time.
Support the preparation of VAT and other tax-related reporting requirements across the MENA region, with particular focus on UAE and KSA requirements.
Help maintain and improve financial controls and accounting processes to strengthen data integrity, consistency, and scalability across multiple jurisdictions.
Identify and implement process improvements using AI and automation to streamline recurring finance activities, improve control execution, and enable more insightful analysis.
Collaborate closely with colleagues across Finance, Treasury, Compliance, FP&A, and other teams to support smooth financial operations and reporting obligations.
Support regulatory reporting activities where required; experience with CBUAE reporting would be beneficial but is not essential for the role.
Participate in ad hoc projects, including new systems, tools, and process enhancements that improve efficiency, control, and reporting quality.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent preferred.
At least 5-7 years of experience in a relevant finance/accounting role.
Qualified accountant or working towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA or any other accounting qualification.
Experience in a financial control, financial reporting, or accounting role with strong technical accounting exposure.
Experience drafting financial statements and supporting statutory audits from planning through completion.
Strong working knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
Experience working in a global or multinational company environment, ideally within a complex, high-growth, or regulated business.
Hands-on experience using AI for finance workflows, research, automation, or process improvement, with a mindset for continuous improvement. Experience using Gemini and Claude would be beneficial.
Strong knowledge of tax requirements in the MENA region, especially UAE and KSA.
Experience with CBUAE regulatory reporting is beneficial but not required.
Payments or fintech experience preferred, but not essential.
High proficiency in Excel and comfort working with data sets, reconciliations, and ERP/accounting systems such as Workday, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic language skills would be a plus.
