Our platform automates the complexity between a doctor prescribing a medicine and a patient starting treatment, including insurance coverage, financial assistance, and supply chain navigation. All full-time roles are in person in New York.

About the role

As Senior Counsel at Forus, you will serve as a key legal partner to stakeholders across the business. You will report directly to the General Counsel and work on legal questions that contribute to the next phases of growth. You will own important commercial matters, contribute to product design, resolve operational challenges, and drive the legal strategy that helps the business move.

If you join, you will:

• Advise stakeholders on legal and compliance matters across healthcare and clinical operations, marketing, privacy, and data governance.

• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements and develop related playbooks, templates, and escalation guidance.

• Develop scalable legal guidance, policies, templates, and AI-enabled workflows that enable efficient decision-making.

• Own and maintain Forus’s core platform agreements, including provider Terms of Service, privacy notices, and website terms, in alignment with product, regulatory, and operational requirements.

• Lead day-to-day privacy and HIPAA counseling, including data mapping, privacy-request workflows, minimum-necessary practices, and partnership with Security on technical controls.

• Partner with the compliance team to advance Forus's healthcare compliance program, aligned with applicable OIG guidance, enterprise risk assessments, and Forus's evolving risk profile.

We're looking for you if you have:

• 6+ years of legal experience in commercial contracts and business counseling, J.D., active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

• Experience independently handling complex commercial matters. Healthcare and ideally health-tech experience is strongly preferred; law-firm and in-house experience is ideal.

• Meaningful experience with privacy and healthcare regulatory matters, including HIPAA/HITECH, data use and sharing, business associate agreements, and privacy requests or incidents.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication that enables you to translate complex legal concepts into strategic and actionable guidance.

• Track record of moving quickly, finding shortcuts, and going to unreasonable lengths to deliver on goals.

• High NPS with your former teammates.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Forus (for full-time employees). Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity.
