About this role
Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Workplace team’s mission is to create and support work environments that are welcoming, comfortable, and intuitive. These spaces are designed to promote collaboration, well-being, and productivity while adhering to the rigorous safety, security, and confidentiality standards required of a financial services company.
The Workplace Experience team comprises hospitality-focused professionals who partner with the business to shape the daily experiences of Stripes, visitors, and candidates across 20+ global office locations. This geographically dispersed team oversees facilities management, daily operations, and local workplace programs, including events and onsites.
What you’ll do
We're looking for a strategic leader and experienced manager with a high EQ who's enthusiastic about, and has a driving need to deliver, the best possible workplace experience for Stripes. You'll be a key member of our Experience team and responsible for ensuring that workplace operations, experiences, facilities, and programs run smoothly at our New York office. As a business partner, you have a deep understanding of the needs, experiences, and day-to-day realities of Stripes at your location and build strong relationships not only with site leads but also with cross-functional partners across the organization.
This role requires a high level of expertise and operational oversight - from understanding how the building functions top to bottom to governance of contractor team performance and ensuring financial accountability. A key part of the role is anticipating the needs of the business by understanding both the site and the broader context of company growth. You'll gather and synthesize feedback from multiple sources to ensure the workplace strategy is informed by real insights from the ground. While enterprise workplace strategy is developed centrally, you're expected to bring informed recommendations based on local business needs and operational insight, and to own successful implementation and adoption at your site.
Please note this role requires an in office presence of 4 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Oversee workplace operations at your site(s), providing direction on all workplace services, including building operations, front of house, shipping and receiving, events support, and employee health and safety.
- Make sound, independent operational decisions by balancing business impact, risk, cost, and employee experience, seeking alignment when decisions create broader organizational impact or precedent.
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of workplace services professionals, providing direction, coaching, and performance management to drive team excellence and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and cross-functional teams.
- Develop a strong rapport with locally assigned Stripes.
- Own operational performance for your site by monitoring service levels and utilization, identifying trends, resolving root causes, and driving continuous improvement across workplace operations.
- Proactively anticipate business needs by understanding both local context and company priorities.
- Develop thoughtful, data-informed recommendations that help shape workplace programs and experiences while maintaining alignment with global standards.
- Hold workplace partners and service providers accountable for performance, ensuring contractual obligations, service levels, and operational standards are consistently achieved while driving continuous improvement.
- Work closely with our Finance & Strategy partner and IFM partner to develop and oversee the opex budget for all facilities, opex, fixed assets, and events of the NYC office.
- Work closely with the local site leadership team to activate the office by creating engagement, connection, and an inclusive environment.
- Craft relevant communications and documentation regarding Workplace policies and programs for Stripes.
- Ensure consistent execution of global workplace programs, standards, and policies at your site, as developed by our Food, Space Planning, and Programs teams, adapting implementation to local operational requirements while maintaining alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Support the Workplace team's goals by taking on ad hoc tasks and projects as they arise.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- 7+ years of experience in workplace/hospitality management in a fast-paced environment with a strong customer service orientation and an understanding of operational best practices
- Strong demonstrated ability in facilities management, vendor, and budget management
- Strength in building relationships with key internal partners to ensure efficiency and understanding on cross-functional projects
- Experience managing a team focused on customer service, hospitality, and operations, with the ability and desire to develop and coach your team
- Ability to synthesize operational data, stakeholder feedback, and business context into clear recommendations that support sound decision making
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack and Jira
- A clear willingness to take a hands-on approach and dive into the details
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners and translate enterprise strategy into effective local execution.
- Ability to operate independently, digging into problems to understand the root cause and delivering scalable solutions
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced workplace with rapidly changing priorities
- An innovative mindset with the ability to drive exceptional workplace services and operational improvements
