About this role
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
SR. GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, DATACENTER MEMORY AND STORAGE (STARLINK)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Global Supply Manager to own end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier management, and delivery of leading-edge datacenter memory and storage solutions, spanning HBM, DDR5, enterprise SSDs and other memory on the roadmap. In this role, you will partner directly with silicon architects, memory and storage engineers, and platform teams to define commodity strategy, build multi-year technology roadmaps, establish and maintain the approved vendor list, and secure massive-scale supply at the record-breaking build speeds the SpaceXAI team is driving. You will negotiate transformative, high-value agreements, accelerate delivery timelines, actively manage inventory across the supply chain, and continuously optimize for cost, quality, speed, and supply chain resilience in one of the most competitive and dynamic AI infrastructure programs on the planet. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who thrives in ambiguous, high-velocity environments, possesses exceptional commercial and technical acumen, and has a proven track record of delivering outsized results in hyperscale memory and storage procurement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with engineers and platform teams to define commodity strategy, align multi-year technology roadmaps, and maintain approved vendor lists for HBM, DDR5, server DRAM, SSDs, and next-generation solutions
- Orchestrate demand forecasting and allocation across SpaceXAI companies to ensure balanced supply support for all programs
- Own global sourcing, including supplier qualification, multi-sourcing strategies, and performance management to meet build schedules and reduce lead times
- Negotiate agreements focused on competitive pricing, volume commitments, and preferential allocation, using creative approaches where needed to secure supply at reasonable cost
- Align internal roadmaps with key vendors and collaborate on capacity planning and technology development
- Monitor supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans to protect build schedules
- Drive cost reduction through should-cost analysis, long-term agreements, and value engineering while meeting quality and reliability requirements
- Build strong supplier relationships through regular reviews and joint projects
- Track KPIs for cost, quality, delivery, and resilience; report progress to leadership
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 12+ years of experience working in one or more of the following in lieu of a degree:
- Business
- Supply Chain
- Engineering
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Deep technical understanding of datacenter memory architectures (HBM, DDR5, LPDDR, high-bandwidth solutions), enterprise storage (SSDs, NVMe, storage-class memory), and related supply ecosystems
- Proven experience in fast-paced, high-growth technology or hyperscale environments with direct responsibility for large-scale memory/storage sourcing
- Previous experience at hyperscalers, memory/storage OEMs (e.g., Micron, SK hynix, Samsung), AI infrastructure companies, or semiconductor supply organizations
- Demonstrated success negotiating and managing complex, high-value supplier relationships in volatile, supply-constrained markets
- Strong negotiation, analytical, project management, financial modeling, and cross-functional leadership skills
- Familiarity with commodity management, long-term roadmap planning, vendor development, capacity reservation agreements, and approved vendor list processes
- Passion for SpaceX’s mission and excitement about contributing to the fastest AI infrastructure builds on Earth
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support supplier relationships and critical projects
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving priorities and world-class execution speed
- This position is based in Palo Alto, CA or Austin, TX and requires being onsite
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. About SpaceX
SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches the world’s most advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk to revolutionize space transportation, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary. SpaceX has gained worldwide attention for a series of historic milestones. It is the only private company ever to return a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit, which it first accomplished in December 2010. The company made history again in May 2012 when its Dragon spacecraft attached to the International Space Station, exchanged cargo payloads, and returned safely to Earth - a technically challenging feat previously accomplished only by governments. Since then Dragon has delivered cargo to and from the space station multiple times, providing regular cargo resupply missions for NASA. For more information, visit www.spacex.com.
