About this role
Build Sofar in your city.
Maybe you're the person who's always dragging friends to a show nobody's heard of yet. You know which rooftop, bookstore, or living room would make an unforgettable venue, and you know the artists your city should be hearing next. If you've ever wanted to put that energy into something bigger, this is your chance to make Sofar a cornerstone of your local scene.
We're looking for producers who are excited to grow a Sofar community: the audiences, artists, hosts, and partners that make our shows feel like nowhere else. You bring the local vision and the drive to fill rooms. We bring a global brand, a proven format, and a team that handles the operational heavy lifting behind the scenes: payments, taxes, insurance, royalties, guest communications, artist and venue advances, and ticketing. That means you spend your time where it matters most, which is building community and getting people in the door.
Who We Are
Sofar Sounds is a global live events brand that transforms everyday spaces like living rooms, rooftops, boutiques, and museums into intimate venues for music and arts experiences. Born in a London flat in 2009, Sofar began as an answer to a growing problem: live music had lost its magic. It has since grown into a global movement that keeps music at its heart while expanding into comedy, singles, dance, and more. We've hosted 60,000+ shows across 540+ cities for 3.2M+ attendees, all connected by Sofar's track record for discovering rising talent.
Artists like Billie Eilish, Brent Faiyaz, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, Tank and the Bangas, Olivia Dean, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young played Sofar shows early in their careers. More than just a gig, Sofar gives artists a professional platform across the physical and digital worlds, plus access to brand partnerships, a powerful content engine, and global media placements.
We're deeply passionate about this work. When we're not working, you can probably find us at a live show or telling anyone in earshot about the new song we can't stop listening to.
Benefits of Being a Sofar Producer
🎫 End-to-End Platform: Ticketing, guest comms, artist booking, advancing, payments, and post-show surveys, all in one place, so your energy goes into the shows rather than the spreadsheets.
📣 Lifecycle Marketing Support: Once someone buys a ticket, we work to bring them back. Sofar provides lifecycle email and SMS campaigns and a dedicated Lifecycle Marketing Manager to turn first-time guests into regulars. Growing your city's audience is yours to own.
🤝 Global Brand Power: Sofar's reputation opens doors to better venues, higher-quality artists, press opportunities, and brand partnerships (Sony, Visa, Delta, and more).
🛡 Reduced Risk: We carry event insurance, manage compliance, handle royalties and sales tax, and absorb much of the operational risk.
🎨 Creative Ownership with Real Support: You shape your city's shows, themes, and growth strategy, backed by the central Global Communities team, shared best practices, data, and tools.
🌍 Global Artist Network: A constant pipeline of 50,000+ artists actively seeking Sofar stages, plus a worldwide community of producers sharing what's working in real time.
💰 Dependable Payouts: Your commission lands via direct deposit, fully reconciled. No chasing invoices.
The Role
As a Freelance Event Producer + Promoter, you'll curate, produce, and promote Sofar concerts and live events that build a strong, vibrant Sofar community in your city. You'll be a true Sofar ambassador: setting your city's strategy, leading artist and venue curation, driving ticket sales, selling local sponsorships and private shows, and expanding Sofar's footprint in your market.
All events in this role are produced under the Sofar brand. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to invest in growing Sofar locally over the long term, not a platform for running a separate events business.
This is a commission-based freelance role with a flexible schedule. Events typically take place on weekends and evenings.
What You'll Do
- Create and execute your city's strategy, including number of monthly shows, neighborhoods, show themes, and growth plans
- Lead curation and booking with the highest-quality, most diverse set of artists and venues, continually growing Sofar's local network
- Own local promotion and ticket sales. You're the marketing engine for your city, using social media, community relationships, press, and grassroots tactics to fill every show and strengthen Sofar's brand locally
- Own staffing and show quality, ensuring magical experiences rooted in hospitality for every guest, artist, and venue (we facilitate payment for event staff and provide customer service to attendees)
- Manage your city's financial performance, keeping every event profitable and healthy
- Build relationships with local businesses to drive sales of sponsorships and private events
- Identify and partner with local organizations with like-minded audiences to build community, broaden Sofar's reach, and co-promote shows
- Collaborate with other local leaders and Sofar producers globally to share what's working, create diverse experiences that generate buzz, and amplify Sofar's brand
- Support Sofar's Business Partnerships and Global Communities teams with high-quality curation and seamless execution for inbound brand partnership activations
Who You Are
- You're excited about Sofar's mission and format, and you want to see a thriving Sofar community in your city
- You have deep connections to your local scene and an existing network of artists, venues, and community connectors, and you play an active role in building community around it
- You have 3 - 5 years of experience in live event curation, production, or promotions
- You know how to sell tickets, not just produce shows. You have a proven ability to grow an audience and drive local demand through social media, partnerships, press, and community outreach. This is a core part of the role, not an afterthought
- You have experience selling event sponsorships or marketing activations, ideally in live events or experiential marketing, and you're confident pitching concepts and closing partnership deals
- You have a strong read on your city: its neighborhoods, its audiences, and where people like to spend their free time
- You're a natural connector who builds lasting relationships with community organizations, media partners, and local businesses
- You understand the economics of live events and know how to make the numbers work
- You're entrepreneurial and resourceful. Whether it's a creative ticket push or a live-event curveball, you figure it out and take ownership
- You can work autonomously, but you value being part of a larger community and organization
- You communicate clearly, manage your time well, and bring professionalism to every interaction
If our mission and this opening resonate, we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the description. We are committed to creating a culture of belonging and building a diverse team that reflects a variety of lived experiences, perspectives, and skills.

About Sofar Sounds
Sofar is a global community reimagining the art of live experiences - turning unconventional spaces into intimate showcases for local grassroots art and culture. Born in a London flat in 2009, Sofar began as an answer to a growing problem: live music had lost its magic. It blossomed into a global movement that kept music at its heart while expanding to comedy, dating, food & drink, dance, and more - all connected by Sofar’s renowned track record for discovering rising talent. Countless mainstage performers like Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young have played Sofar shows early in their careers. In the past four years alone, Sofar alumni have earned 129 Grammy nominations and 21 wins. Each Sofar show is one-of-a-kind due to the surprising pairing of live experiences with unconventional spaces. Sofar has hosted shows in caves; churches; hidden museum rooms; private living rooms, gardens, and rooftops; a ski jump tower; countless boats, ships, and catamarans; a toy shop; a wax museum; and many other delightful places. With a network of over 10,000 venues and tens of thousands of extraordinary emerging artists, Sofar creates live performances in spaces that reflect the soul of neighborhoods and cities. Past partners include 20th Century Fox, Anheuser-Busch, Arc'teryx, Delta, Focus Features, Ford, Lexus, Lyft, Pernod Ricard, Sierra Nevada, Showtime, Sony, Visa, and many others.
