About the role

The Collections area is evolving its platform architecture to support faster product development, reduce code duplication and create more consistent experiences across mobile applications and backend services.

As a Staff Software Engineer - Collections, you will work across teams with customer faced ownership on renegotiation products. You will help establish the basics of the UI infrastructure layer with reusable components and foundational capabilities, while ensuring strong architectural alignment with backend platforms.

This is a cross-team technical leadership role with a strong focus on scalability, long-term architecture and international scalability. You will help design infrastructure that can support local variations across markets without creating unnecessary duplication or short-term solutions that limit future growth.

You’ll be responsible for

• Defining the target architecture across mobile experiences, UI infrastructure and backend services, ensuring that the involved teams evolve as a coherent platform.

• Leading the design of reusable UI infrastructure, including components, elements and foundational capabilities that reduce code duplication and centralize common knowledge.

• Establishing strong contracts and integration patterns between mobile clients and backend services.

• Working cross-team to guide IC leads and engineers through architectural decisions, dependencies and trade-offs.

• Designing systems that are scalable and flexible across geographies, supporting local variations while preserving shared foundations and reducing duplicated implementation.

• Driving longer-term solutions instead of optimizing only for immediate delivery needs.

• Staying hands-on with architecture, technical reviews, prototypes, coding and complex problem-solving when needed.

• Communicating clearly, motivating teams and influencing partners across the organization without relying on formal authority.

• Ensure communication across leading teams to ensure effective collaboration between them

• Serve as bridge between other business areas and even business units

We are looking for a person who has

Required

• Proven experience as a Staff-level Software Engineer or equivalent technical leader.

• Strong experience across both mobile engineering and backend services, with the ability to reason about the full path from user experience to APIs and platform infrastructure.

• Experience defining architecture and technical direction across multiple teams or domains.

• Strong understanding of reusable UI infrastructure, component-based development, platform capabilities and reducing duplicated implementations.

• Experience designing systems that support scalability, configurability and local variation across markets or products.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive cross-team dependencies and align technical and none-technical stakeholders.

• Strong leadership and influence skills, including the ability to mentor engineers and guide teams toward sustainable solutions.

• A hands-on mindset and comfort operating in ambiguous, evolving environments.

• Strong written and verbal English.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, collections or other regulated domains. This is not required for the role.

• Experience building platforms for international or multi-market products.

Location-Specific Disclosures

Toronto: Total compensation includes base salary, RSUs and benefits. Base salary range: $20.000 - $24.000
