About this role

Your opportunity

Build with us
Businesses deserve better from finance. Less friction, more freedom. Since 2004, Mollie has been on a mission to make payments and money management effortless for every business in Europe.

Today, more than 250,000 companies trust our all-in-one platform to get paid, manage money and grow on their terms. Simple, scalable and built with real businesses in mind.

We're one of Europe's fastest-growing fintechs, with 900+ Mollies across 12+ locations. Our people make this growth possible. We move fast, build with purpose and care deeply about our customers. Whether you're solving problems, building market-leading products or exploring how AI can make work smarter, you'll have the freedom to create and the trust to deliver.

If you're ready to grow, shape the future of fintech and join an ambitious, high-performing team, this is the place for you.

Your impact

As a Platform Engineer in our Edge & Networking team, you are the guardian of Mollie’s gateway to the world. You’ll own and maintain the critical infrastructure components that serve as the main entry point for all customer traffic. Because you sit directly in the critical payment path, your work ensures that every transaction - the lifeblood of our 250,000+ merchants - is handled securely, reliably, and at scale.

You will join the Developer Enablement domain, where our mission is to build our own flavour of GCP infrastructure to host our applications. You won't just be maintaining systems; you’ll be a key influencer and decision-maker, helping our product teams ship often without ever compromising on security or reliability. You’ll lead by example, acting as a master of your craft and a proactive problem-solver for the entire engineering organization.

What you’ll ship

  • Design and operate highly available systems, implementing strategies for failure and leveraging your deep knowledge of distributed systems to ensure 24/7 reliability.

  • Optimize the Edge API Gateway, ensuring a seamless and high-performance user experience for both internal engineers and external partners.

  • Scale the Mollie Cloud Platform (MCP), automating infrastructure management through code (IaC) to empower product teams to create value faster.

  • Collaborate across Engineering, working with system and software engineers to set and maintain SLOs and SLAs that meet the evolving needs of our merchants.

  • Drive observability and monitoring, using tools like Datadog to provide deep insights into our networking and cloud infrastructure.

What you’ll bring

  • 4+ years of experience in Platform or Infrastructure Engineering, ideally with a background of "Software Engineer turned DevOps" or extensive network management experience.

  • Expertise in Cloud Networking & Kubernetes, with a proven track record of managing complex cloud infrastructure at scale (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

  • Strong programming skills in Go or Python, allowing you to build the automation and tools that keep a modern fintech running.

  • Mastery of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring our cloud resources are versioned, repeatable, and secure.

  • A proactive, leadership-oriented mindset - you are comfortable making high-stakes decisions and identifying technical challenges before they become roadblocks.

  • Nice to have: Experience with API Gateways, messaging systems like RabbitMQ/PubSub, familiarity with PHP or Java, basic Lua programming.

Grow your way

At Mollie, growth is personal. We believe everyone should have the chance to develop their skills, explore new challenges and shape their career on their own terms.

You'll get regular feedback and performance reviews to support your development, with fair and transparent salary reviews along the way. Many Mollies move into new roles or take on new projects to stretch themselves, and we actively hire from within to help you take the next step.

No matter if you're aiming for promotion, exploring a different career path or building new skills, you'll be supported with the tools, trust and opportunities to grow your way.

AI at Mollie

We believe in Always Be Shipping, and AI brings that philosophy to life across every team, every role, every day

AI is core to how we build. It helps us move faster, simplify work and make smarter decisions, creating real impact for the businesses we serve. We're looking for people who are excited to use AI to shape the future of finance with us.
