About this role
About Mistral
Mistral provides full-stack AI solutions: from frontier models to developer tools, applications, and compute. We partner with enterprises tackling the hardest problems - across high-stakes industries like finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector - co-creating customized AI systems that they can run on their terms.
We are a dynamic, collaborative team passionate about AI and its potential to transform society. Our diverse workforce thrives in competitive environments and is committed to driving innovation. Our teams are distributed between Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. We are creative, low-ego and team-spirited.
The Role
We are seeking experienced and highly motivated Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to join our Engineering organization and drive the delivery of high-impact technical projects. In this role, you will plan, execute, and oversee complex programs aligned with our strategic goals. Success requires a combination of technical expertise, project management excellence, hands-on engagement, and strong cross-functional leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
The TPM role spans multiple critical areas of program management:
Functional/Technical Support - Collaborate with teams to refine and communicate roadmaps, organize delivery, maintain project tracking tools, identify dependencies, and proactively track blockers. Work closely with Product Managers to escalate risks and ensure alignment.
Engineering Operations - Drive efficiency by automating processes and championing their adoption across Engineering teams, reducing manual effort and enabling scalable, consistent workflows.
Customer Programs - Partner directly with key enterprise customers to support deployments, ensuring timely delivery of specialized features from Product Engineering teams.
Release & Portfolio Management - Coordinate model releases with Science Program Managers and product releases with Engineering Program Managers to maintain seamless execution.
Location & Office Policy
The position is based in our Paris HQ offices and we encourage going to the office as much as we can (at least 3 days per week) to create bonds and smooth communication. Our remote policy aims to provide flexibility, improve work-life balance and increase productivity. Each manager can decide the amount of days worked remotely based on autonomy and a specific context (e.g. more flexibility can occur during summer). In any case, employees are expected to maintain regular communication with their teams and be available during core working hours.
What You Will Do
Program Management - Oversee and manage our development and deployment processes, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with product timelines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, Science, Marketing/Coms teams, Design, and Solutions to ensure alignment of engineering operations with overall product and business objectives.
Project Delivery - Track project progress, timelines, and resources. Assist teams to implement processes to smoothen delivery process.
Process Improvement - Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the engineering team, in coordination with the other TPMs.
Stakeholder Management - Regularly communicate with stakeholders to provide updates on program status, risks, and issues, and to manage expectations.
Risk Management - Identify potential risks and issues in the program lifecycle, and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
What We're Looking For
• You hold a degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, etc.)
• You have proven experience in managing technical programs, preferably within an engineering team.
• You have a strong understanding of software lifecycle management and deployment processes
• You have excellent project management skills, with the ability to run multiple complex programs smoothly
• You are thriving in cross functional collaboration and you know how to adapt your communication to stakeholders
• You are highly organized and knows how to manage cross team dependencies
• You are a proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
• You have strong design thinking skills and feel comfortable with actively contributing to architecture decisions
Ideally, you have:
• Experience as a Software Developer.
• Already worked in an AI company/project.
• Knowledge of how LLMs are built and work.
• Already worked as a Technical Program Manager
