The Govtech team builds rich and creative features that set the standard for the ride sharing industry. We are seeking a highly motivated, mid-career software engineer to contribute to the development of features that facilitate Lyft's entry into new markets, ensure the company's adherence to local regulatory requirements, and utilize the latest AI technologies to enhance the user experience. You will work with a group of talented engineers and help the team to deliver significant business impact. If you enjoy collaborating with technical and nontechnical partners in a fast-moving space with real-world impact, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities:
- Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and understanding of customer needs
- Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
- Can help lead large projects from idea to positive execution
- Unblock, support and communicate with external and internal partners to achieve results
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
- Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices
Experience:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with high-level programming languages; experience with Python and Go is a plus.
- BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong background in distributed systems, and proficient in relational or NoSQL databases.
- Proven experience in designing, debugging, and managing fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
- Nice to have: experience with machine learning and building LLM applications
- Nice to have: proficiency in AI tools.
Benefits:
- Extended health and dental coverage options, along with life insurance and disability benefits
- Mental health benefits
- Family building benefits
- Child care and pet benefits
- Access to a Lyft funded Health Care Savings Account
- RRSP plan with company match to help save for your future
- In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy. The policy allows team members to take off as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service
- Lyft is proud to support new parents with 18 weeks of paid time off, designed as a top-up plan to complement provincial programs. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible.
- Subsidized commuter benefits and Lyft ride credits
