Checkout.com is looking for an enthusiastic Engineer I to join the team responsible for Finance systems.

Your day-to-day focus will be on Workday Financials development and maintenance. You will have the opportunity to own other finance systems across checkout. This is a highly experienced role for someone already in a technical workday financials delivery role.

You'll partner closely with the Finance and Global Corporate Technology teams to keep critical core workday financials functions running smoothly

About the role

As an Engineer I, you will support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Workday Financials, with a focus on Record to Report (R2R). As Checkout has a complex finance architecture, you will be expected to also develop in learning our P2P system ZIP and Expenses system Emburse.

You will work with Finance and Technology stakeholders to understand requirements, configure and test solutions, investigate issues, and help maintain reliable financial processes and integrations. This is an early-career role for someone with 1 - 2 years of hands-on Workday Financials experience who is building technical and functional expertise.

What you will be doing

  • Support Workday Financials, ZIP and Emburse development, configuration, maintenance, and optimisation activities.

  • Contribute to Workday R2R processes, including core General Ledger, Financial Accounting, Close and Consolidation, Allocations, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Taxes, and Financial Reporting.

  • Help gather and clarify business requirements and translate them into practical Workday solutions.

  • Support configuration changes in Workday, following documented design, testing, and change-control practices.

  • Assist with triage and investigation of Workday integration failures, data discrepancies, and process issues.

  • Support financial data flows involving payroll, vendor master data, Accounts Payable in ZIP, and General Ledger postings.

  • Work with Finance stakeholders and technical teams to help deliver reliable, well-documented integrations.

  • Support Workday and ERP release cycles through impact analysis, regression testing, user acceptance testing, and change management.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, integration runbooks, configuration notes, and knowledge-base content.

  • Monitor recurring issues and contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Research issues independently, document findings, and escalate problems when they exceed defined complexity or access boundaries.

  • Communicate progress, risks, issues, and proposed solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you will bring

  • 1 - 2 years of hands-on experience supporting or delivering Workday Financials.

  • Understanding of core financial processes such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, period close, allocations, intercompany, or financial reporting.

  • Experience supporting Workday configuration, testing, incident resolution, or release activities.

  • A basic understanding of integrations, data flows, and data quality within enterprise applications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate issues, identify likely root causes, and recommend next steps.

  • A structured and careful approach to configuration, testing, documentation, and change delivery.

  • The ability to understand stakeholder requirements and translate them into clear technical or functional actions.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused and collaborative approach.

  • A willingness to learn, develop Workday expertise, and research solutions independently.

Desirable experience

  • Experience with Workday Financials areas such as Financial Accounting, Close and Consolidation, Allocations, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Taxes, or Financial Reporting.

  • Accounting qualification and experience is desirable

  • Experience supporting payroll, vendor master, Accounts Payable, or General Ledger data flows.

  • Awareness of SOX, audit, data privacy, and control considerations in financial applications.

  • Experience working with Finance users, Technology teams, or implementation partners.

What success looks like

  • Workday Financials issues are investigated thoroughly and progressed with clear evidence.

  • Configuration and integration changes are tested, documented, and delivered in a controlled way.

  • Workday and finance tech processes and related data flows are supported reliably.

  • Requirements, decisions, and known issues are documented clearly.

  • Recurring problems are identified and converted into practical improvement opportunities.

  • You continue to build strong Workday Financials knowledge while contributing positively to the team.
