About this role
Astronomer’s products run on a complex, multi-cloud platform - and where we're going as a product company requires a level of data infrastructure sophistication we're actively building towards. The work ahead in our Platform team isn't just about wrangling pipelines or curating datasets; it's about building the foundational systems that our products will depend on for years.
We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead the strategic direction and development of our platform team for Astro, our flagship product.
Ideally, you have prior experience working on Platform teams (both product-driven and infrastructure-driven) for other SaaS/PaaS products and are execution oriented: you are able to set a compelling product vision and then deliver on it with predictability.
You will closely collaborate with engineering, sales, and customer teams to deliver innovative solutions that solve complex data problems for some of the largest & most advanced companies in the world.
What you get to do:
Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our platform team, which owns the Management Layer and Control Infrastructure of our SaaS data orchestration product, Astro.
Engage deeply with our most strategic customers and customer facing teams to understand use cases and pain points, using evidence from that engagement to define a product roadmap for your team, in collaboration with our broader product and R&D organisation.
Develop detailed use-cases and product requirements, working closely with the engineering team through the design, development, and release processes.
Support product marketing and sales enablement to craft customer-focused messaging and content.
What you bring to the role:
8-9 years of experience with SaaS/PaaS product management
A technical focus, being able to engage as a peer with engineering partners across R&D.
A Bias to action, allowing you to deliver on the product vision you set for a group of teams within R&D.
Experience working with highly technical users who have big, sensible demands - and balancing that against a committed roadmap for our product story overall.
Experience being customer facing, and the ability to synthesize information from. customers, product data, and industry trends into an actionable, data-driven roadmap.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Confident problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a track record of turning data into insights and action.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience delivering products in the data space, with a particular focus on APIs, authentication, billing and high fidelity/availability systems.
Familiarity with Apache Airflow or other modern data tools.
Interest or passion for open source projects and communities.
The estimated total compensation for this role ranges from $240,000 - $270,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
