About this role

About Zipline

Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service. We are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine and essential goods anytime, anywhere. We design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably. Today, Zipline operates on four continents, makes a delivery somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, and has completed millions of deliveries to date, including blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products.

Our customers include the world’s largest and most prominent healthcare systems, governments, retailers, restaurants and global businesses who rely on us to save lives, reduce emissions, increase economic opportunity, and provide delivery from point A to point B as fast as possible. The drone is only 15% of what we’ve built to enable seamless, reliable, global operations.

Our system strengthens supply chains, reduces congestion, and gives people time back. With more than 140 million commercial autonomous miles safely flown, Zipline is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.

We operate at a global scale and are looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real-world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is motivated by building systems that have a direct, meaningful impact on people’s lives and by scaling the future of logistics. We are seeking people who sculpt from first principles, enjoy facing adversity, and can do the impossible at record breaking speeds.

About You and The Role

Zipline’s Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams need safe, reliable facilities to build and operate autonomous delivery systems. As Facilities and Workplace Supervisor, you will own day-to-day facilities execution for the South San Francisco site, reducing preventable downtime and keeping spaces ready for engineering, logistics, manufacturing, and workplace use. You will set maintenance priorities, coordinate technicians where applicable, and hold service providers accountable for scope, quality, cost, and schedule. You will own facilities execution and maintenance-program improvements while partnering with internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants on site needs and capital improvements.

What You'll Do

  • Prioritize repairs and maintenance across building systems, grounds, and site infrastructure based on safety, operational impact, reliability, cost, and urgency.
  • Coordinate building technicians where applicable and external vendors; define work scope, track service KPIs, and address quality, schedule, or performance gaps.
  • Manage facilities, custodial, grounds, catering, valet, and workplace-service contracts, including purchasing, invoice reconciliation, service quality, and cost control.
  • Assess facility and infrastructure risks and improve preventive and corrective maintenance programs to protect site readiness and reduce avoidable disruption.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and service providers for repairs, maintenance, and upgrades to interior, exterior, and grounds systems.
  • With EHS oversight, supervise hazardous materials and hazardous waste compliance programs, maintaining required records and adherence to applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate facilities portions of capital improvements with internal partners: IT/Finance/Production/Finance etc and external partners like contractors and consultants; maintain drawings, permits, project records, and documentation for current and future facilities.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of facilities management experience in a light-industrial, commercial, aviation/drone, or technology environment.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating repairs, maintenance, and upgrades for building systems, grounds, and site infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering or supporting facility capital improvement projects, including contractor coordination, documentation, permits, and project records.
  • Experience managing service vendors or contractors, including scope definition, performance evaluation, cost control, and issue resolution.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance programs, facilities safety practices, and hazardous materials or hazardous waste compliance.
  • Ability to make sound maintenance-priority decisions across competing operational needs with minimal guidance in a multi-site or operationally complex environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in South San Francisco and travel up to 10%, including occasional travel to Half Moon Bay; able to provide remote facilities support for test sites and locations outside California.

About Zipline

Zipline was founded to create the first logistics system that serves all humans equally. Our aim is to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges. Leveraging expertise in robotics and autonomy, Zipline designs, manufactures and operates the world’s largest automated delivery system. Zipline serves tens of millions of people around the world and is making good on the promise of building an equitable and more resilient global supply chain. From powering Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, to providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart and enabling leading healthcare providers to bring care into the home in the United States, Zipline is transforming the way goods move. By transitioning to clean, electric, instant logistics, we can decarbonize delivery, decrease road congestion, and reduce fossil fuel consumption and air pollution, while providing equitable access for billions of people.
