Great journeys start with Trainline 🚄
We’re Europe’s leading independent rail platform, helping millions of travellers find and book the best-value rail and coach journeys across our app, website and partner channels.
Our job is to make the green travel choice the best choice. By building a better train travel experience, we help more people choose rail - creating a positive impact for customers, our business and the planet.
We’re a team of more than 1,000 Trainliners from over 50 nationalities, working across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh and Madrid. Now is a brilliant time to join us and help shape the future of travel.
Introducing the Trainline People Team 👋
Our People team sits right at the heart of Trainline's ongoing growth, and we're now looking for a People Partner to join us on a 16 month fixed term contract, partnering closely with business leaders to shape people priorities that are commercially grounded and strategically aligned.
You'll take on an autonomous and varied remit, acting as a trusted partner to managers at every level across Customer Services and Operations, Fraud and Payments, and Corporate Affairs. You'll own a broad range of employee relations matters end to end and lead people focused projects with genuine business impact, working closely with the wider People team and stakeholders across the organisation to bring ideas to life.
In this role as the People Partner, you will...🚄
Act as a trusted People Partner to designated client groups (Customer Services and Operations, Fraud and Payments, and Corporate Affairs), building a deep understanding of their commercial context to provide support that is genuinely value add.
Build strong, credible relationships with stakeholders at every level, from frontline managers to senior leaders, adapting your approach to meet people where they are.
Take a proactive, insight led approach to spotting people risks early, bringing forward ideas and advocating for the right solutions.
Coach and support people managers through key processes such as performance management, absence and restructures, helping less experienced managers build their confidence.
Own employee relations cases end to end, including disciplinary and grievance investigations, performance improvement plans, redundancy and restructure processes, and complex absence management.
Provide commercially pragmatic employee relations advice, balancing legal compliance with practical outcomes, and keep your knowledge of UK employment law up to date.
Take ownership of people projects from scoping through to delivery, working collaboratively across the People team and wider business to achieve clear, measurable outcomes.
Represent the People team in cross functional forums and leadership conversations, using data and insight to influence decisions and guide leaders towards sound people outcomes.
We'd love to hear from you if you have...🔍
Substantial experience managing a wide range of employee relations cases independently and end to end, including complex disciplinary, grievance, absence and redundancy situations.
A track record of coaching and building confidence in managers at all levels, particularly those who are new to people management.
A commercial mindset, approaching people challenges with a focus on the right outcome for both the business and its people.
Experience taking a people initiative from concept to completion, managing your own workload and delivering measurable outcomes.
A natural ability to build credible relationships across levels and functions, and to influence effectively without direct authority.
Experience thriving in a fast paced, commercially driven environment, ideally within tech, e-commerce or a similarly dynamic sector.
It would be helpful if you hold a CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or have equivalent experience.
You may also have exposure to organisational design, or experience working alongside operational teams such as Customer Services.
