About this role
The Hextech Gameplay team develops custom engine technologies and tools that power the creation of gameplay experiences within League of Legends. Join us and shape the future of League of Legends gaming!
As a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on tooling and engine systems for League of Legends, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality workflows for league engineers and designers. You’ll advance tooling workflows that enable creators to bring their visions to life at scale and provide expert level support for these technologies. This role will report to the Engineering Manager on the Hextech Gameplay team in Sydney.
This is a full-time role, based in Sydney, Australia. Internal Job Title: Software Engineer II.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain software systems with a focus on quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Uphold a high standard of engineering excellence. Participate in code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and contribute to continuous improvement of team practices.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, producers, and other engineers to understand their workflows, scope, implement, and test features.
- Debug and resolve issues in live environments and development pipelines.
- Write clear documentation and communicate technical details across disciplines.
- Participates in the on-call rotation; resolves live incidents & proposes solutions in RCAs
- Provide mentorship to more junior members of the team
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a comparable field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years experience in professional software development
- 3+ years of professional experience and proficiency with C++
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, concurrency, etc.)
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating across disciplines
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of multiplayer systems, content pipelines, telemetry, or build systems
- Experience developing within any game engines
- Experience with perforce and/or github version control systems
- Experience in Agile processes and continuous delivery
- Experience in translating user feedback into technical solutions
