About the Role

Millions of people trust Nu with their money every day. Protecting that trust - and the integrity of the financial system around it - is the work of our Ops Defense team.

As an AML/CFT Ops Analyst, you'll investigate the transactional alerts our monitoring systems raise, decide what is genuinely suspicious, and build the case files that regulators and auditors rely on. Your judgment directly shapes how Nu detects money laundering and terrorist financing in Colombia.

The work is analytical and high-stakes, and increasingly involves crypto and virtual asset flows. Beyond individual cases, you'll help sharpen the system itself - tuning scenarios and thresholds so we surface more of what matters and less of what doesn't.

Compliant operations are a driving force behind Nu's growth, and this role sits at the center of that.

You'll be responsible for

• Analyze transactional alerts generated by Nu's AML monitoring system to identify suspicious activity, including crypto and virtual asset flows.

• Investigate AML cases end to end, applying network analysis, escalating where needed, and preparing complete investigation files.

• Document rationale and decisions with the quality and traceability required for regulatory and audit scrutiny.

• Drive the tuning and continuous improvement of transaction monitoring scenarios, thresholds, and operational routines.

• Own decisions that affect customers and Nu, grounded in AML policy and applicable local and global regulation.

• Build metrics, KPIs, and deep dives that measure the efficiency and regulatory adherence of transaction monitoring.

• Partner with AML Governance and cross-functional teams to turn regulatory challenges into practical, scalable solutions.

We are looking for a person who has

Required

• Bachelor's degree.

• 3+ years of experience in AML processes such as transaction monitoring, PEPs, sanctions, or investigations.

• Hands-on experience conducting AML investigations and network analysis.

• Experience with crypto, blockchain analytics, or monitoring of crypto-related transactions.

• Familiarity with transaction monitoring systems and case management tools.

• A solid analytical background, comfort manipulating data, and genuine interest in learning basic data analysis (SQL, Python).

• Advanced or native Spanish and advanced English, with strong communication skills across different backgrounds and cultures.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of SQL or Python applied to AML analysis.

• Experience with KYC, enhanced due diligence, FATCA/CRS, or sanctions screening routines.

• Experience contributing to the tuning of monitoring scenarios or thresholds.

• AML certifications such as CAMS or equivalent.
